  1. Any chance anyone knows of a beer/wine distributor that will deliver outside of San Jose?
  2. I vote for Osa. Was down there last April and it was incredible. We drove from San Jose and spent the night in Playa Uvita ...was truly incredible. Not too bad of a drive. Isolated but perfect for a honeymoon. Wishing we didn't go recently so we could go back for our honeymoon If you consider it I can recommend some places.
  3. Sorry for the delay ... the Calypso band is called Chakra y su calypso ... they don't have a website unfortunately. I do have phone numbers which is the best form of contact ... 506 2250 5305 or 506 8350 6027. Hope this helps.
  4. I also was quoted ~ $350 and up for a local Spanish speaking lawyer ...and up to ~ $800 for an English speaking lawyer to travel from San Jose. The declaration of our single status was required specifically from the lawyer, who is independent from the hotel. He said it is required for the marriage to be legally recognized in the US ... for what its worth.
  5. Where are you guys getting married? We are getting married in November and just booked our Calypso band and DJ ...obviously don't know how its going to work out yet, but they come highly recommended if you are interested? I did sample about 5-6 delicious cakes while I was down their planning, in San Jose. I will try to find the name of the baker but most resorts will make the cake onsite. The baker in San Jose was willing to deliver about 4-5 hours away ... Have you picked a spot yet?
  6. I am getting married on November, and just finished emailing our lawyer all of the required documents. We were told you need: 1) color copy of birth certificate - my fiancee lost his also and we had to get a copy from the State of Maine (we live in NY) relatively easy, filled out a form and paid like $15. It came in the mail about 2 weeks later 2) passport - valid for at least 6 months after the wedding date 3) a document stating neither of you have been/or are currently married - we had to go to City Hall and get an "application for license to marry outisde of the US" - or something. That was the only thing that stated we weren't previously married. This was easy but a little annoying, had to go to 2 other offices to get it notarized, etc ... Hope this helps!
  7. Any recommendations for a DJ? We are getting married in Malpais and the DJ our hotel is recommending is very expensive. We are hoping to find another option ... any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
