MY FI's parents doesn't understand how we can get married (they are crazy old Irish Catholics from Dublin) and his brother told him "I am out of Time Off from work, can you move it to next year"? Now onto my wedding coordinator/pricing funnies of the day. Who wants to know how much napkins are? $5 a piece. That is worse than the chair bows! Tablecloths--$30. My favorite is the band who plays in the mojito lounge who quoted us $1,000 for 4 hours---Lomas Travel wants $2,800 for 2 sets of 45 minutes. Ash, I was told that if you purchase a private dinner (ie: cheap 3 course meal like I am) then all the napkins and linens, plates, chairs and covers come with it... I am not sure if that is what you are talking about but we are paying 14$pp for the menu 1 option and all of that other stuff is suppose to come with it along with a 4 hour bar. Its in the private banquet kit...am I right about this ladies?

  3. Hey girls, I spoke with my TA about the "turnover" in the wedding dept. She happens to know the owners of the resort. I just thought that she should pass the word around. I also told her about the photographers too. So, who knows
  4. That is the line of WC I have had. Thanks for everyone who replied back about it. It makes me feel a TON better
  5. Hey Ladies! So has anyone else gotten their email from Grace (if that is who your coordinator is) that she is leaving? I am now getting Kiara, does anyone work with her right now? This will be my 3rd coordinator now and getting a little worried about the turn over there. What do you girls think?
  6. WOW! Let me just say that I have read through all of the posts to catch up! Thank you, it has been quite entertaining and very helpful. The wedding seems to be quickly approaching and there is a part of me that wants to plan plan plan and then there is the other side of me that is reminded of the fact that I should be on "Mexico" time. Anyone else feel this way? Just a reminder as to why we are doing the destination wedding. A couple of things I am still not sure about... 1. Reception: should we have it on the "new" plaza deck? My only concern with this is how close it is to the other rooms. So brides, what did you think? - What is the difference between Zocallo Terrace and Zocallo al Fresco!!! (or are they the same?) THis is my other option. We are looking to have around 40-50ppl. My only concern here is how some of you commented on the area and the sharing of the bar...AND if you do have the plaza is it close to a bathroom? I am just gathering my thoughts after reading all of these posts. And lastly, it seems we need to be prepared to spend extra money or at least be able to stand up to the resort and say no to extras....

I wanted to ask you ladies what your thoughts are on how many people you invited. We have a lot of family and friends that our parents feel like they need/want to invite, which is part of the reason why we chose Mexico, since we want a small wedding. Our parents just sent us their guest list and it comes out to around 350!! Our parents are making the argument that they know most of them won't come but it's making me nervous. I expect we'll actually get around 150 - which is the max we want/can afford. Have any of you delt with this? Any advice? Thanks! I know how you feel about the guest list. My fiance and I are paying for our wedding and we want it small, close friends and family. We made our own guest list. The issue was more with my mother who wanted to invite EVERYONE, however, we are the ones paying for the wedding. I think its harder if your parents are putting up most of the cost and are willing to pay for those who decide to come. With our friend list, my fiance and I decided that if one of us did not know the other friend they were not going to be invited. Just a way to keep the list down. Also, if you are able to throw a small party when you get back for those that can't/aren't invited they may help in breaking the news to your parents. Good luck with everything...

All of the other places are pretty casual during the day, but no wet bathing suits. Men need to wear shirts. We never had any problems. ALSO, I've finally done my planning thread. My review should be done soon too! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t44703 Looks Good! Your OOT bags, were those for your guests apon arrival? If so who did you get to label all of those? Also did you bring your own paper lanterns for the plaza? Angelfish (Amanda)
  9. WOW! Gemwhite2b. We should keep in touch with one another. How long are you staying?
  10. Hey ladies, did any of you that have already married out there do a tour or excersion with all of your guests? If so, I was wondering who you booked it through and around how much did it cost. I have been told that they only vendor to use for this is Lomas and I just thought I would put the question out there for anyone who has done this and what they thought about it. Thanks, Amanda
  11. Did you have the Plaza blocked off as well? And did you have a private dinner on the plaza?
