  1. I booked this house for our wedding week. South Point Selection Key West Vacations Homes Rental I love it and the pricing was on a shoulder rate. One thing that they don't tell you is there is an additional $475 cleaning rate, about 1k in taxes, and a $200 pool heating cost (there are two pools and depending on time of year it might not apply). I booked it for 8 days and they came down a little in the price for me. Frank and Findlay were very responsive and I believe you can get the contact info from the link above. I worked with Jessica/Jess at The Artist house for the B&B. I liked the look of it and she was really helpful. As for photographers I had looked at a lot of portfolios. I love Studio Julie. Her website is www.studiojulie.com and she has amazing stuff on it! I am still waiting on a quote from John Hunter but I liked his portfolios too. If you need hair done I am booking with Marie Pierre and her website is // Studio Marie-Pierre Key West Hair and Make-up let me know if you have any other questions and you can PM me too. I hate not being able to look at your thread while responding. I might have forgot something.
  2. By the way your arrangments sound beautiful! I love the limes in the water idea! LOVE IT! IF you can do it on your own without getting stessed heck yeah go for it! I love the colors!
  3. I am hopefully using Julie. I talked to her for a hour today and absolutely love her! She did give me a name of a new florist in Key West named Peter Bek. His number is 305-613-1582. She said he is great and good with individual attention. She also said Mama's Flowers are great too. She raved about Key West Cakes (I think that was what was originally mentioned in this thread). She of course is very professional and didn't say anything negative about anyone else. She also mentioned Sue Hyde. Do you happen to have her phone number? She didn't have it on her.
  4. Thanks for all the cake vendor information. I still need to work on that and have been looking. I am happy to see that you both are booking with the two photographers I had also chosen. I too am on the fence with the TTD. I love it but my fiance isn't the most photogenic and I don't know if I can picture him rolling around in the sand with me. I did come across a bouqet I loved and it was on one of these websites Jhunter, studio Julie, or Marie Pierre (hairstylist). It was beachy with starfish, shells, and flowers. Have either of you come across something like that? It was elegant yet simple. Also I think one of you is planning a welcome dinner at Margaritaville. Did they give you a group rate? I am curious. My whole family is a bunch of parrotheads but I heard Margaritaville was a little over priced. I have a bunch of loot from their going into the welcome bags.
  5. Welcome...this forum it can seem a little overwhelming but there is a lot of good information. Everyone seems to be really helpful too which is great.
  6. Hi there! I have looked at your website many times. Thank you so much for the information. My brother and I have two different styles which cracks me up. I am usually, as he would say it, the one who has the "hoyty toyty" taste and he is the one who directed me away from Smathers Beach. I can't wait to give him crap about that one! I will make sure to check out both sites when I am there wrapping up details in March. I have an odd date for my wedding. It is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I wonder if I would need to book a "reserved" space. I really like pictures taken at the Fort itself which is another reason I was wanting that location. Any feed back you can offer is welcomed whether you are a vendor or not. Mandy
  7. We actually rented an awesome house that sleeps 16 and a B&B. I did fall in love with Casa Marina and the Reach Resort. I really wanted the pier at the Reach resort. The Hyatt is beautiful too. My budget is a little lower but we are also accomodating families with kids. If you need any information on photographers, hair stylists, etc feel free to pm me. Amanda
  8. Yay Fellow Key West Brides! I have done so much homework my mind is swimming with info on Key West. I am doing a low budget but high fun week long wedding celebration. I have my dream list of where I would go if I wasn't on a budget and I also have the places I have signed up to work with. If I can help anyone with something they are looking for please don't hesitate to ask. So far I am getting married at Fort Zachary. I am working on a contract with a wedding coordinator/officiant/photographer. I have also found the woman I would like to use for hair and makeup. We rented out a housing compound and a b&b for guest overflow. We are not doing a reception because we are doing a sunset cruise the night before but I do have some great recommendations. Mandy
  9. Fort Zachary Taylor I had originally wanted to get married on Smathers Beach. I have changed my mind. My brother (who is a local) said I should do Fort Zachary. You can reserve your own private spot so you aren't sharing the beach with other brides. It starts around $60 for your reservation. I don't know if that covers the entry fee into the park. If you are doing a sunset wedding it is also facing the right direction. Smathers Beach the sunsets on the opposite side. You will still get sunset glow but not as much as you would on a beach in direct view of the sunset. I am definitely going off what other people have told me. I have looked at many photographers websites and all pictures turn out beautiful regardless. Fort Zachary also has some really amazing brick archway photo opportunities too.
  10. My ceremony is at 5:15. The sun sets technically at 5:38 on our wedding day. But we wanted a sunset wedding. It sounds like you are looking for a morning wedding for a reason. I would suggest asking whoever your photographer is what time they would suggest in the am. They know what type of sun will affect your pictures the most.
  11. Thank you! I am having fun with it for sure. I have only been engaged a month and a half and am almost done. That photo is amazing! I have found a couple spectacular photographers but unfortunately I don't have an unlimited budget.
  12. Thanks! My brother lives there and I just love the laid back atmosphere. I really wanted this to be a celebration and vacation for our families. I just hope that it stays warm and we don't get some fluke cold spell. We live in the midwest so going somewhere warm is a big selling factor! I looked at Punta Cana but there are so many people that would have to get passports. It just seemed easier for us to stay in the US.
  13. I am so excited to have found this web forum! i have read a lot of the threads and am so excited about all the shared information. My name is Amanda (Mandy) Nauman. I am getting married in Key West on 11/24/09. I am so fired up that I am almost done with my planning. I look forward to sharing and receiving information with you all! Mandy
