I want to shout out all past, present, and future St. Lucian brides. My wedding is scheduled for 07*08*09(groom picked the date because he felt he would always remember this date). It will be taking place at the Sea View Garden with the reception being held at the Piano Piano restaurant. The wedding is being coordinated by Kayt and her team at Awesome Caribbean Weddings. I am using a videographer(don't know his name) and the photographer who came highly recommended by ACW name is Mickael. I decided I would have a welcome bag for my guests. This welcome bag consist of snacks(pretzels and cookies), candy and an animal beach ball for the children, towels(purple and yellow) and glasses(martini, champagne, and shot-for the men only). The towels and glasses have a beach design on it, our names and wedding date. Also included in the bag is a passport book. This book contains of a welcome note (got from this forum),a map of the island, tours, night life in St. Lucia, history about the island, key people contact information, popular restaurants, and a caricature of myself and the groom. The favor bag has a cd(R&B and reaggae love songs), a bottle stopper(our invitations were message in a bottle), luggage tags, candles, and XO soap. The night before the wedding I will be having a rehearsal/welcome BBQ at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort. For the ceremony we are doing the sand ceremony. I also hired a steel pan band prior to the ceremony and for after while the wedding party is taking pictures. I am also using fans as programs. When the guest arrive to the restaurant there will be fire eaters and limbo dancers for entertainment during the cocktail hour. During the entertainment the guest will be eatting the canapes and sipping their signature drink(rum punch) which will be yellow(one of the wedding parties colors). While the guest are at the wedding, I requested that rose petals in the shape of a heart be placed on their bed. Next to the petals will be a poem, I wrote to thank the guest for attending the wedding. After all is said and done I will be leaving the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and spending 7 days at the Sandles Grande. Now I have some questions. How did you ladies transport you dress or dresses? Did you send it ahead, checked it, or carried it on the plane. For those who carried it on the plane what was the procedure? In terms of your favors, welcome bag, etc. did you guys send it ahead or carried it on with you? If you sent it ahead did you have to pay a brokers fee? I have a total of about 40 guest (this is down from 67 just two months ago) and have all these items for them. I really don't want to be weighed down with to much baggage. Did any of you ladies get your nails and/or hair done on the island? If who who did you use and what did you think about the outcome? Thanks for taking the time to read this elaborate thread. Hope to be hearing comments soon. All information is truly appreciated. Chelle Hello Ctweety, Welcome!! Your plans sounds a lot like mine. We are staying at the BayGardens Beach Resort for the wedding and also going to Sandals Grande for our Honeymoon for 7 days. My wedding was also cooridinated by ACW. I am having a beach Ceremony on the private beach and for the reception at Jacques waterfront. It's only a few weeks to go before the big day for me. I am a little nervous now. by the way the ACW booked your rehearsal or did you book direct with BayGardens Beach Resort? I have been trying to get into with them for weeks, but there is something wrong with the internet. I will have to give them a call to finalize everything for the rehearsal. Good luck with your planning and hope we were able to help.

Most of the other things on my to-do list are things that will be nice touches, but if they don't get done, no one will know except FI and me. I've been pretty laid back this whole time and plan to keep that way. Just enjoy the ride! That's cool... I know I will probably starting freaking out a few the month before. I pretty much have everything I need well except for my shoes and garter.. Veil and earrings I have... Nice picture of you too...

So frustrating! Very cute... Nice foot jewelry. I actually saw one online like that I like too, but haven't decided if I want it. still looking for "Just Married Flip Flop.... Good luck...
  5. hey ladies, Kristy, where did you get your barefoot sandals? I was planning on just going barefoot and buy some cute heels for my reception. I have two months and a fews days to go and no shoes or garter myself. I saw a garter online I will buy. I only saw the plastic "Jut married flip flops too, I haven't seen any nice ones. If I happen to find one, I will post and let you know. If you happen to find one too , do you mind letting me know where you bought them, because I still haven't found a nice one I love yet. Almost there ladies..... thanks for sharing... Kristy, are you nervous yet??

If you are looking to buy tickets now, it might be a more expensive since Easter/Spring break is right around the corner, you might want to wait until after May to book, flights might go down, but again I don't know for sure... Good luck!!
  10. Hello Trini Bride, Nice to have you back. Glad to hear your wedding was amazing... Thanks for the references as I am also picking out my flowers when I get down there. I look forward to seeing pictures and more recommendations from you as I am a bit nervous now that I am only 3months away before my big day. Thanks Vel Quote: Originally Posted by trini bride Hi Ladies. I am back from my wedding in St Lucia. We had an amazing time! My flowers ended up being a fraction of the price quoted by the wedding planner and I was able to get exactly what I wanted. The flower shop is called Summersdale and it is not too far from Castries. Her name is Vera Anne and her phone number is 1-758-453-7016. I really liked the fact that she also has a garden where some of the flowers are grown, so you are able to have them freshly picked. All I did was email her a few weeks prior to my arrival and let her know the types of flowers I needed and she was able to let me know if they were available. I made my own bouquet and used flowers for my ceremony and reception.
  11. beautiful shoes, still looking for me. I did found a nice one for my bridesmaid, but do you think a 2" heel will sink in the sand? I am having a beach cermony.
  12. Welcome Chikadee.. I am doing the same picking my flowers when I get there. I heard Rendezvous is really nice. Good look planning. Quote: Originally Posted by Kristy! Welcome Chickadee! There's so many beautiful local ones that I'm not worried about it at all. As for the reception, most of us are having is at Jacques Waterfront. I'm splitting my reception between Jacques and Villa Capri (where we're staying). Good luck on the wedding plans! I've heard some great things about Rendezvous.

We to are now thinking of going to another carribean island after the wedding rather than staying in St Lucia. It works out to be quite cheap. were thinking Barbados, as thats a place that me and FI want to visit. The Villa sounds like a good idea, but i dont think i want to put all my family together, as we tried this in Florida a few years back and it was hell on earth. They are close, but all have strong personailities, so would work better having own room in a resort. One of the other girls suggested Bay Gardens resort, which looks lovely. I am starting to think maybe we should do room only rather than AI so that our guest have the flexibility to eat outside of the resort, although im a little worried if food is expensive outside the resort. Also we want to be in Rodney Bay close to nightlife for our guest and to have fun before wedding. Has anyone been to the bars/clubs? What is the nightlife like? Bay Garden Beach resorts also has meal plans so guest can have meals included if this is what they want. Kirsty how many guest have you got going? The party at the Villa sounds great. we are still undecided about our reception. We both want a private party. we looked into the Beach party, which is still an option, but it is so expensive. it would also mean that we would have to restrict our number of guest to 30 in order to make it affordable. We are also thinking to find out what facilities they offer for a private function at the hotel. We have checked the Almond smugglers Cove, who give you full use of a resturant, but you still have to pay for meals and drinks even if you are staying there and there prices are steep for what they offer. I am trying to find out what the Bay Garden Beach resort offer for a private function, i have seen pictures online and it looks nice. I tried to email them but no response as yet. Does anyone have a contact for them? Also is anyone else considering a party at the hotel? Please make suggestions for reception ideas. Thanks. Dennita, It sounds like you have a lot of options ,so take your time you will make the right choice. It can get expensive, but it all depends on what you do. I choose Bay Gardens Beach Resort because of the location close to Pigeon Island and also to the night life and other restarant available. I wanted to give my guest the option to go out the resort if they decide to stay loner for a vacation. The BGBR does have a wedding Cooridinator who can help you will all your wedding plans if need be. I am planning a rehersal dinner at the BGBR and also sunday brunch. They have two three restaurant availble at the resort. You can contact Caron who is th wedding cooridinator at [email protected]. She should be availabe to help you with all your planning if you decide to book there. If you can't get in touch with them or anyone at the other resort you have in mind, Awesome Caribbean can always make arrangement for you. As far as my reception I chose not to go the resort way and try something outside the resort. I was originally having my reception at Beach Club 1461, but there were making some renovations to the deck, so I decided to have a small private reception. I am also having my reception at Jacques Waterfront for dinner and dancing recommend by Awesome Caribeen and others. Both Jacques and Beach club 1461 are very well recommended... Good luck and hope we were able to help.

I haven't picked out my shoes yet and my dress should be in any day now. The bridal salon will hold it for me though. Four months from today! That's great!! That was the restarant I was thinking about as well. I think they have site and I have read that the food is good. I think one of the brides booked with them. Yeah, I just picked up my dress, veil last weekend. I am so exicted... Can't wait to put it on.. No, shoes yet, still looking too.. Are you nervous only 4 months??
  15. Hello, Welcome to the St. Lucia Brides Forum….. I am glad you have chosen St. Lucia like the rest of us. I have heard and seen beauticful pictures of the place and sure you won’t regret having your wedding there. My Fiancé and I as well have never been there, so first time for us as well. I am so excited my wedding is in June only 4 months away… Can’t wait.… Congrats and good luck with your planning… We are hear to help anyway we can. There are a few brides to be that have been before so they can help with more info if needed. Anyway, here are a few comments on your questions asked. I am using Awesome Caribbean as my wedding planner, so good choice. They are grate!! They can help with planning your accommodations. At first I planned on booking with Windjammer because it was AI, however considering the price and location and that everyone would have to take a shuttle bus, I canceled and booked with Bay Gardens Beach Resort for my wedding accommodations, recommended by AC. Bay Gardens is located near the Caribbean sea beaches and is close to all shops- restaurants, if you are looking for that. Not all-inclusive, but very reasonable As far as Almond, I did a few research and from what I heard it is not all that, especially if you are looking for a nicer beach, reasonable price for all-inclusive though. My Wedding Ceremony will be held at Pigeon Island. My honeymoon is booked with Sandal Grande. I spoke to few people that been there and they had all postive things to say., so great choice... I will let you know how it is when I get back.... I am sure the others would like to comment and give there recommendations as well for consideration. Good luck!! I have found this forum so helpful for information and advice about weddings in St Lucia. We will be travelling from London, England and have already started looking at prices for hotels and accomodation and it aint cheap. Both me and my FI have never been to St Lucia, but wanted to get married in the Carribean. We both fell in love with the pictures of St Lucia. Given that it is expensive for our guest to join us for our wedding we are trying to make it as cost effective for them as we possibly can. we are planning on staying at the Almond Smugglers Cove, as we have children in our party and its looking like this is one of the cheapest AI resorts for families. I have decided to go with Awesome Carribean weddings to plan my wedding day and wanting to get married at Pigeon Island on either a private beach or cliff view.....any recommendations? We are unsure about our reception at this stage but the beach party looks good. I have heard some of you mention that your booking resturants, do they include a party for you also with music etc? We are planning on going to Sandels Grande after 7 days at ASC for a further 7 days for our honeymoon. Could anyone please offer advice on are plans so far we havent booked anything yet and just wanted to make sure where doing the right thing. Does anyone know anything about ASC or Sandels Grande? We need to keep the price down for guest, but are happy to pay whatever it cost for our accomodation for our honeymoon, is Sandels a good choice or is there a better option? Sorry for bugging you all with my questions, but just really anxious about my decisions and want to be sure before we book.
