Seriously I stressed about the whole "wait until you get here to pick everything", but it's really the way to go. We had 30 guest, and we all went to the Disco after the wedding. It was a BLAST!! Also, if I'm thinking correctly the Friday beach party was over by the time our reception was over at 10:30....but I may be wrong. I am helping my cousin research Dreams Tulum for a spring wedding. You indicated you went to the disco. Is that on site, or did you have to leave the resort and go elsewhere. One of the reasons she's considering ruling out Dreams is she wants to have a "party" and had read somewhere that the DJ has to be done by 10:30 and the resort in general is quiet after that time (meaning there are no other bars are places on site to continue to party if we have to shut the DJ down at 10:30. She is planning a large group - @ 150 people.
  2. My cousin and her fiance are planning a destination wedding for (hopefully) April or May of 2008. I'm helping to coordinate the wedding, a travel agent, and a bridesmaid (plus the bride is my best friend so I feel honored just to be a part of this experience)! So even though I'm not the bride, I've been helping with the research and stumbled across this site. She'll also be posting on her wedding and though we haven't had much time to look at all the site has to offer yet, we both agree this is an AMAZING resource! Wow! She was kind of sold on Dreams Cancun, but dates weren't available for the months she wanted, then we looked at relocating to Dreams Tulum but due to posts on this site we realize we need to look at another resort chain as they want a DJ to play well past 10:30 p.m. and it appears that Dreams requires it to be shut down by that time. So, we are back on the hunt. The resort needs to allow children, be able to accomodate @ 150 guests at a wedding, and if music needs to be shut down early - then it needs a club for partying. So that is our challenge. I'm sure we'll gain some very useful info from all the posts on the site. Congrats to all the brides to be on the site. I got married at Couples Ocho Rios on 02/02/02. I wouldn't have done it any other way - what a relaxing way to "tie the knot"!
