Rsvp Nightmares

I think that's a great idea just to make things clear. if they say "oh, no they're just coming to Mexico but we didn't expect them to go to the wedding" at least you know you're all on the same page :). I honestly thought that it was common knowledge that weddings cost on a per person basis but after planning one I realized that apparently not

I am still in shock over the amount of people who have asked us, insinuated, or told others that the wedding is/must be "included". Their rational is that if it is an all inclusive how can a wedding be extra? I literally do not have the time or patience to explain it to people but it astounds me that people really do not get it.

@@nadiakat17 sorry you are going through this. We went through much of the same.We didn't deal with any guests owing us money but we did feel like we were hounding people who deposited or reserved without deposit etc. FI and I decided that on XXXX date that was it. We were not going to email, remind, hassle anyone! They had until that date and after that we told our TA to release any unreserved rooms and began to order items and update our package based off of the headcount. Even after the release of rooms, we still had a hard time getting meal RSVPs so we chose meal options for those who did not respond. I feel 100% better about the situation since I did that. The way I look at it, I have done and am doing everything I need to do to hold up my end of the bargain. Organizing the TA, getting the room block and rates, giving them all the information they need, and making sure they ultimately have a wonderful time! At some point, the guest has to become responsible for their share. A final decision is not too much to ask and if they can't have the respect to give you an answer either way, I would assume they aren't coming and focus on the guests that are!

I agree with everything everyone has said on here! We also had an RSVP nightmare, mainly with NO one RSVP'ing by the date. We invited around 80 people, with a deadline of December 19th. In early November no one had booked (but we had people contacting our TA), so we sent out an email reminding people of the deadline and telling them to email us with a "yes or no" to attending the wedding. We had about 4 people actually email us back with a No response. We decided not to hound people after we sent the initial email, because we figured if people wanted to be there they would! We have also had people try to book after the RSVP, so we had to say no.

It is also astounding how everyone thinks the wedding will be free. They just assume that the meal, décor etc is just included in the stay at the resort. We have also stopped discussing it with people who clearly don't care to understand how it works.

At this point we are just looking forward to a great vacation and the wedding of our dreams! :)

I know! They think that they can just decide whenever, because it's their vacation but they don't even think about me, frantically trying to plan things! It is beyond rude

    • Another option is to find an app that allows for group talk. This Wedding Party App looks pretty neat. https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-party-app/
    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
