Dw Dress...follow The Rules?

Recommended Posts

From everything I've seen, there are no hard and fast rules for destination weddings, and you can wear just about whatever you want!! Obviously for temperature concerns, you wouldn't want a great big multi layer full on satin ball gown (then again maybe someone would!! lol)  but you get my drift. You want to be comfortable first of all, and yes look exactly like you dreamed so whatever works for you..... who cares what others think. If you take the time to look through photos on this site you'll see that the dresses run the full gamut of what's out there. So wear what you love and love what you wear!! The choice is completely yours!!!

Good luck!!

I'm strongly considering not wearing a white dress, providing I can find something I like. People think I am NUTS and my friends try to talk me out of it! But there are plenty of other colors that are more flattering on me than white, and not getting a "wedding" dress gives me more style options. I'd love to find a turquoise dress that matches the color of the ocean (with white flowers) but haven't found anything quite yet.

Personally - I love breaking the rules. I feels very liberating and like the day will truly be OUR day.

I thought I would need to wear something "beach appropriate" too, but as I started dressing shopping nothing seemed to work.Turns out more of a ball gown style works better with my body type so that's what I think I'll be getting. I thought that might be too hot but it all depends on the fabric you're getting. Apparently organza fabric is good because it's light and breathes better. I'm thinking about getting the dress in the link below. I tried it on and felt good in it. I also read from someone else on this site (can't remember who), but you're going to be hot regardless of what you wear so you might as well get something you love.

Gorgeous dresses, ladies! I feel like most of the wedding pictures I've seen (and that is a lot as I'm currently trying to decide on a photographer) the brides are wearing pretty formal dresses and it looks great. Go with your gut!

I tried on one destination style dress, but it was just to keep my sister happy that I tried at least one on. I had briefly considered wearing just a short cream dress but then decided to go for my dream dress  which is tea length with a full skirt. I LOVE my poofy dress, I just couldn't have a chiffony one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
