Can we have the blood test done in US and take results to Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.  I was told by my wedding coordinator that we could have the blood tests done here in the states and have the results sent/ or brought with us. Is that true, as I have searched the internet and only found one site that said that we can do that.  Any suggestions on how to lower the cost of a legal/civil wedding?  Can we do the leg work ourselves, ex. send the copies of the passport, hire the priest/minister, translate the blood work results, have the certificates Fed Ex back to the state (which was stated $150).  Every website has different prices for each of these....blood work from (150-$250 per person, plus have the doctor look and translate the results ($200)...Yikes!!!  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Granted, our hotel has a coordinator also to do this, but it is almost a grand to do.

For some reason I think that each resort handles it differently, it was one of the reasons that FI and I decided to do a symbolic wedding versus an actual ceremony. Remember, if you have a traditional ceremony it will be in spanish, and if your guests don't speak spanish you will have to employ the use of a translator. another added cost.

I think you might be at the mercy of the resort with regard to the costs. I can't see how you can lower the cost because these requirements are to be completed through the resort in order for it to be considered legal. Have you spoken with your WC about how to cut corners on cost?

Hello Jenjen0927,

As a weeding planner with more than 13 years in the area we always have done all our blood tests in Mexico.

However, I wanted to reconfirm your questions and we just hang up with the Justice of the Peace and they said that it is always possible to have your blood test done in the US or Canada BUT will have to had the apostille from your country and has to be translated here in Mexico which represents a lot of money to do all of that.

That is the reason why it is always better and cheaper to do it here in Mexico.  Blood Tests here in the area are around 250-300 per couple (or even less if we take you directly to the lab) BUT some hotels charge it per person.

In case you might need any additional information, we will be happy to answer at [email protected]

Best Regards,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
