Hi!

My fiancee and I are in a simlar situation.  We are planning on getting married in October 2015.  As for booking things now, I'm not really sure.  We were going to wait until about a year before our wedding to start booking.  As for hotels, I wouldn't reccommend going below 4 stars for Cuba.  Their standards are very different from Canadian standards.  It all depends on what you like.  We are getting married at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria in Santa Maria Cuba.  It's on an island that's exculsively for tourists so it's very quiet and private.  It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport.  The beach is incredible and so are the accommodations, service, and food.

As for the best prices.  Cuba is much cheaper from May to November because of hurricane season.  The prices are almost slashed in half during hurricane season.  Cuba doesn't usually get hit by hurricanes, but it is humid and rainy during that time.  I think the best month to go to Cuba is in April because it is hot, sunny, and doesn't rain as much, it is also the most popular month for a wedding and a bit pricey.

The best way to determine which hotel you want to get married at is to actually visit the venue to see for yourself.  Booking in the off season or last minute could enable you to get great deals.

Happy Planning!

@@Tamra I've noticed that there aren't any travel packages for 2015 as well =(  Kind of makes planning a little harder.

We're not getting married till late 2015 (we're leaning towards November after reading some posts about weather on here), but there's really no information about anything in 2015.  I really want to start planning, but my fiancee wants me to wait till we've saved a bit first.

@@Tamra do you have a wedding planner or travel agent helping you out?  I'm surprised nothing is up yet for January 2015.  Calculating for each guest makes me nervous too because the number of people will really impact our budget.  I'm not even in the planning stages yet, but it's nerve wrecking.

Plan away doesn't hurt lol If you can find things great if not then you'll have lots of time still :)

We don't have a wedding planner yet the resort will offer one once I confirm, I'm thinking about a travel agent... Wondering if it's worth it. We'd are having a very small private ceremony so just 6 guests and us my son and niece... So I'm not worrying to much about cost because they have to come lol

But to create and save for a budget would be wonderful lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
