Hi everyone.  We have chosen the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, Jamaica.  The wedding will take place on April 10, 2013.  Does anyone have any reviews or suggestions.  I have emailed the wedding dept. with many questions a few weeks ago but have not heard back from them yet.  From what I have heard it sometimes takes them a few weeks to respond.  I am thinking about a reception diner at the Blue Lagoon.  Does anyone have any information on a menu?  I am also thinking about using the resort photographer so would welcome any information on this as well

Hi Newbie,

Congratulations on your pending nuptials.  I was married at the GPLH in June 2011 and my ceremony was absolutely beautiful.  Before I get into the details of the ceremony I will say that the Wedding Department took quite a long time to respond to my questions as well but eventually I did receive a response.  What made me nervous was upon my arrival I assumed there would be a note or some instruction as to what I needed to do to prepare for the day but there was nothing.

I arrived on a Wednesday and my ceremony was set to take place on that Saturday.  Thursday I went looking for my wedding planner to find out the particulars of my day.  She showed me my selected location as well as a back up location should it rain.  I settled my bill and felt a bit more at ease.

I was informed that all of my guests would be picked up and taken to the ceremony site and that I would receive a similar pick-up as well.  The problem is my guest were picked up but I wasn't.  Five minutes to show time I found myself making a bee-line to the beach with my escort helping me keep my dress from dragging on the ground.  When I arrived (hot and sweaty) I was just ready to get started.

My wedding planner was waiting for me and gave me the signal to walk.  My music was playing as my mother and uncle proceeded to walk me down the aisle.  Thankfully the ceremony was quick because it was hot. LOL!  We had a champagne toast after the ceremony; our photographer took some beautiful pictures and the videographer did a great job with our video.

Here are a couple of photos:

Good luck and again Congratulations!

i posted a few pictures... click on my profile and go to "default pictures" album.

Also.. u will see soem of the more active GPLH discussion feeds in my "subscriptions" area

i posted a review and definitely recommend the blue lagoon... however be careful with your reception timing as a band does play directly overhead.

Hello! I am also getIting married at The GPLH April 16th 2013! What type of questions do you have? I already reserved the Blue Lagoon, didn't want another bride to snatch it up. It looks beautiful and from what I've read from reviews it sounds like the better choice. We're not bringing a photographer or hiring one. We're hoping we have some talented friends.

Excited!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
