What form of payment to use in Mexico (wedding balance)?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

We are leaving in 1 week for our wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun. I've tried asking my WC about this but her responses are slow, even as we are so close :(

Does anyone have any advice on what form of payment would be best to pay for our wedding. Personal Check or Travelers checks are our preferred methods, unless anyone has any other advise from their experience.

Thanks so much!!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the slow responses of hotel. We have a wedding venue in Puerto Vallarta and we either ask our clients to deposit to our bank in USA before arrival (except gratuity) and they pay either cash, credit card or they can pay us with a travelers check for the difference. Personal checks will not work I do not think. At least here we do not accept them.

Cash is fine as well depending on how much is owed though I would think about that twice and if you do just take the cash. If you are paying the hotel directly you could also of course use your credit card or debit card. Bring some cash for miscelleneous use... about 1,000. You need cash in Mexico for emergencies.

That is all I can think of but I hope it helps. Have fun and rest assured, it will all work out:) It always does....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
