Cruising in the fall?

Hi Ladies!

Newbie here! My fiancee and I just got engaged and just recently decided to do a cruise wedding. We originally wanted to have our wedding in September, and decided to keep our September date when planning the cruise. When I mentioned it to some of my family members, they expressed concern over cruising during hurricane season.

I've only been on 1 cruise and this was in the summertime, so I have no experience cruising around that time. So has anyone ever cruised in the fall? What was it like? Should I move the date up to Spring or Summer?

Honey84,

I would agree with the others users. Although it depends on where you are planning to take the cruise. I personally love Fall weddings, which is why we are having ours in the North East while all the trees are changing colors.

I think you should consider moving it. I think Hurricane season is July through October. The other months are cool. Hurricane/Tropical Storms season is very unpredictable, sometimes you get one and other times you get 5. Last year, I knew someone who was on the cruise during the earthquake and the hurricane. They missed ports and had to turn back. Keep in mind that the "rainy" season for your port of calls, so if you are doing your wedding off of the ship, it won't get rain out.

I guess it wont be so bad, if you were doing your wedding the day you board, but I think you are gambling with "mother nature" during this time.  Also check out the months, that the cruise line adds a surcharge. Best wishes on your decision.

I agree with KKS..If it were me I would move it. Have you considered doing it in the winter? As a winter get away?? In the carribean or any of the islands it is typically warm all year round. The one cruise I went on was the first week of December a few years ago and we went in the carribean and everyday on the boat was hot and at least 85 and the islands were the same thing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
