Help! Photographer and DJ in Puerto Vallarta

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies!

I am getting married in July 2012 in Puerto Vallarta.  I'm having a real hard time finding a photographer and GOOD DJ that is reasonably priced.  I guess my question is WHAT is the aversage price for both and can anyone recommend someone that blew them away???  Especially with music.  I kinda have a photographer in mind, but suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks girls! wink.gif

I hired Staci Marquez-Nichols from Reventon DJ, and I would not suggest her.  She is very specific at what she wants to do.  Her professionalism is almost non existant, and I didnt have a good feeling about her at all.  She does play good music and kinda did what I asked of her.  She is not friendly and gives off a very bad vibe.  She brought 2 men with her to help set up and they stayed the whole night and drank on our bill. (we did not have our reception at an all inclusive resort so we had to pay for all alchole consumed.)  She was also pregnant and drinking, try to stay away from this DJ.  Only my opinion, she does have good reviews on her site.  Never felt comfortable with her being there.

Searching around for a great DJ and Photographer and found your post from 2011.   While I now it was a few years back I was wondering if you found a great photographer and a DJ you would recommend...or even not recommend would be helpful as well.   Hope to hear from you.

DO NOT HIRE STACI MARQUEZ/NICHOLS, AKA DJ STACI.....

I would strongly advise that no one work with Puerto Vallarta Destination Wedding or "puerto vallarta wed" to obtain a DJ, flowers, cake, officiate or any other vendors through Staci Nichols. The company is a one woman operation (she is a DJ that has tried to create a company outsourcing vendors) who does not even live in Mexico. SHE HAS ABOUT 5 DIFFERENT COMPANY WEBSITES AND NAMES THAT SHE WORKS UNDER AND IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, CRUDE AND TACKY PERSON I HAVE COME ACROSS IN A VERY LONG TIME.

She will try and convince you to fly her from California to mexico and charge you an insane premium, while advertising costs that are really affordable, she will never honor those prices and you hsoudl expect to pay 5-10 times what she quotes and advertises. She says that she has relationships with all of the top vendors in Mexico, but she skims so much off the top and up charges the bride so outrageously that most vendors and locals refuse to work with her, you are better off independently finding the companies for your flower, cake, dance floor, and DJ.

Some of her company names include:

Puerto Vallarta Destination Wedding

Puerto Vallarta Wed

revolution wed

revolution weddings

revention weddings

This is one of many of her websites

Hello brides and grooms....I am Staci Nichols from Puerto Vallarta Wed. Just wanted to take a second to respond to these posts.

Regarding the post by STBMARCHAND:

I don't drink alcohol ever--pregnant or not. I have never so much as had a beer in my life. I'm a long time member of Al-Anon.

The bride was instructed that I would need a meal provided for me--it would logically follow that beverages would also be provided (especially while 6 months pregnant).

I was unable to get a hold of the bride for about the final 2 weeks leading up the wedding--I sent her numerous emails she never responded to. Because of this several aspects of her wedding did not flow smoothly.

The bride was also informed that I would have an Asst with me. The second man she refers to is my husband who I had to call to bring me food because what the venue served was not edible (I could see the chef stirring the salad with his bare arms, which were quite hairy).

The bride hired me for an extra hour of overtime which I think pretty much speaks to the level of quality they received from me and their level of enjoyment. You can read more about this wedding here:

Regarding the post by BRIDE2BE2014YAY:

This post is not from one of my clients. I know who the post is from because 2 minutes before she posted it, she emailed this thread to me. She is a potential client who spoke to me on the phone once.

This bride became disgruntled when she asked for a picture of what my wedding officiant looks like. She said her villa needed to see it to prove that she really is a minister. As that clearly sounded "off" to me, I told her I could send her a copy of the minister's ordination card or speak directly to the venue. Finally she broke down telling me the truth was that she wanted to know what the minister looked like because she didn't want anyone unattractive in her wedding pictures. She admitted this was superficial.

As someone who grew up with numerous large birthmarks on my face, I do not condone this type of discrimination. I am one of the few wedding vendors who actually posts pictures of non-model-looking people on my site. In fact, on my opening slider on my homepage I have a plus-size bride featured. I politely told this bride that I would not feel good about myself if I sent her a picture of the minister for this sole purpose. I told her my principles were more important than my bottom line. I never heard from her again...until she emailed this post to me several weeks later.

As for her other claims, they are either completely fabricated or proven false by reading my website. I offer some of the lowest prices in town. For example, my officiant is $299. Most others start at $400+. As far as the price gouging she claims, all of my prices are openly published on my site. The DIY prices are $50 higher than the Full Service prices because that is what I take for myself for booking the vendor on the client's behalf (a finder's fee, so to speak).

I own a separate domain name for each service I offer. They all forward to my one and only PV website--this is a common tactic for improving search engine ranking. Nothing fishy.

People use destination wedding planners who do not live in the destination city all the time--this is not a scam. I lived in Vallarta for years but have recently moved away.

Finally, some of my clients really like the idea of me personally DJing their weddings. I offer a DJ package that involves me flying out from California. It is only a few hundred dollars more than the PV DJ.....not bad for round trip air fare and lodging. Again, no secrecy or trickery--this info is openly published on my site.

What I think is really a low blow is listing my California business name on her post so that this unrelated thread shows up on Google whenever someone types in my CA biz name. I could just as easily type her full name in here but won't.

To see testimonials from brides who actually have hired my company (we have the largest collection of testimonials I've seen online in PV):

Thank you for your time brides and grooms. Sorry for the distraction. I wish you all dream-come-true weddings in Puerto Vallarta.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
