Gran Bahia Principe Akumal

Recommended Posts

Hello - I am getting married January 18th at the Gran Bahia Principe but have noticed most pictures and comments are for Tulum, I am getting married at Akumal.  Does anyone have any pictures of their reception?  I was given the choice of either Dolce Vita or Frutos del Mar but there are no pictures available, has anyone had experience with either restaurant?  I tried to get the Brazillian restaurant in Tulum but it is fully booked...Also, once your dinner has wrapped up, where is the best spot to move the party?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!  Muchos Gracias!

oh i did find this about dolce vita in my review:

"For dinner we had reservations at Dolce Vita, the “Italian” a la cart in the Akumal section. We went early because we were hungry, just in case they had people not show up, but nope they were busy so we went and sat on some beach chairs enjoying the night view. I had some sort of ravioli with spinach/cheese I guess, and Doug had what he thought was going to be chicken cordon bleu, but was just sort of some kind of chicken dish. They both tasted just fine to us, no problems there. Dessert I had tiramisu (better than decent) and Doug had some ice cream with sweet roll thing. Over all, it was a good, decent meal with a nice waiter. Cant ask for much more than that!"

Haven't got any pictures yet unfortunately.  I'm sure the food will be "decent" in either spot but it would be nice to see it!  A bit frustrating that the coordinators can't provide pictures of set up receptions....I've now been given the option of Dolce Vita or the Arelquin...I'm leaning towards Dolce Vita because I feel like it would be a safe bet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
