Has everyone been contacted by their wedding coordinator at the resort already? I was told 2-3 months out, so the 2 month point will be in 2 weeks....if they dont reach out to me I'm going to contact them!

Kelly- You're too sweet and I really appreciate your help! I actually got a phone call from Yuritza @ the resort yesterday and she was beyond apologetic about the whole situation. She really made my anxiety disappear with her kind words, but I'm still going to hold them to it. She promised an amazing wedding, and with the amount of money I'm paying for just the venue, I really hope it's true. I do see your pictures and they just look amazing, so I am ready to get this all taken care of.
Thank you for everything!!!!

Our hotel also didn't do the travel arrangements, I don't think that's in their realm. We used a local travel agent, who I think went through Apple vacations b/c they offered the best prices at the time. We're in the same exact situation w/the travel agent not finding the best prices though. My guests were pretty much doing her job by finding better prices through their travel agents or just on their own online. Kinda defeats the purpose of a travel agent, but I agree with you Kelly, the guests should get the best deal!

I am newly engaged and I have been looking into a wedding at the Grand for October 2013. We had stayed at the lindo last year and loved it! We think we might have 100+ guests and I was curious if anyone knows if they are able to accomodate a party of that size? I wasn't sure the choices that would be available for a private reception?
Any information would be extremely helpful!

Yes, they should be able to accomodate you at La Brisa restaurant. We had 82 people and we had 11 round tables and a table for us with two extra chairs for visitors between courses (see slideshow in previous post for pictures). There is a lower level of seating they can use if they need to accomodate larger parties. The mistake we made was doing a table seating but not looking at where each table would go. We had the parents in the back...luckily we relaized it before everyone sat down and changed it, but we had kids at a prime location when I would have put them in the back. Unfortunately they had already put their hands all over the table and we decided to just let them stay there. This easy enough to go through with wedding planner when you are there.

Has anyone used the hotel's videographer? Any opinions?

Has anyone heard anything about or tasted the reception dinner options?
We're thinking of going with the Italian choices: medallions of lobster naples style, grilled fillet of snapper w/parmesan vegetables, filet mignon, or marinated poultry supreme.

I'm new to all of this and came across this thread and would love to hear what others are saying about their weddings at Iberostar Paraiso. We've put our deposit down and sent all the paperwork, but no one has contacted me about where the wedding and reception will be. I'm just curious what the next steps are. We already have 20+ guests who have booked their travel b/c we were getting some sort of discount until the end of Sept so we sent out an email to everyone to give them a heads up. We are expecting another 20+ people to book in the next couple of months.
Has anyone used the hotel photographer? What did you think?
