Centerpeices For your Destination Wedding in Cabo??

Hey Everyone,

I saw a post regarding centerpieces but it was combined into what people were doing for their  ' At home Receptions' as well.

I was wondering what everyone's plans are for centerpieces for their destination wedding . Are you going with what the resort is providing ? Are you bringing your own?  I am just trying to decide what do to, if anything.  I am getting married at the Riu Palace.  I was thinking of even going to Walmart in Cabo before the wedding and picking up some vases and going to a local flower shop in Cabo as well and picking up some long stemmed flowers.  We are doing a black and white theme with Red. I was going to do long stemmed roses and also put some black 5x7 frames with some blackand white engagment photos of us around on the tables.  Just would like to know what others are planning , or if you are bringing decorations down with you ?  I would love hear your ideas, and see some pics?

I'm planning on bringing my our centerpieces.  I found that the centerpieces at the resort were too expensive.  I plan on buying 5-6 square vases (depending on how many tables we have) at Ikea and getting flowers from Michales.  I'm hoping to fill the vase with lime slices that I'll get over there.  Either at a local market or from the resort.  I also have purple rose petals that will be scarttered all over the table along with some 4 votive candles I got at Michaels.

I told my bridesmaids and mother that they each have to bring a vase in their carry-ons :)

Here is my inspiration (my colors are purple and green):

Hi Mishele..we just returned from Cabo do do some planning for next summer and went to scope out Walmart. Unfortunately they don't have the selection of vases that we have at home. I think we decided on bringing our own. We are only having around 40-50 attend, so we will have 5 tables to do centerpieces. I think it'll be easy for us to pack our pieces. The restaurant probably just offers white napkins and my daughter wants a specific blue since her colors are aqua and coral. I have found an online linen company who had napkins for around $1 pc in the color we need. That's less than some of the vendors will charge to rent, and we can have plenty of padding in our luggage.

The black, white, and red sounds beautiful. In fact there are many florists in Cabo that you could just pick up your flowers and do your own design.

I think my daughter is wanting to do sand and shells, starfish and candles...so we've been picking up things when we see a deal.

We decided against an AI and instead found a smaller hotel close to town that can accomodate everyone.

It's great that this site has classifieds where we'll be able to choose whether we want to sell off our items after the wedding.

We aren't using a WC since my daughter is one so we'll be doing all the planning and she has coworkers coming who can do the day of stuff.

We are even considering bringing our own photographer because we figured if we paid for she and her husband, not only do they get a vacation, but she will be at all the events to get great shots.

check out my daughter's wedding website..it's amazing, you can tell she's a planner!

Thank you so much for the insight on Walmart , I really appreciate that!  I checked out your daughters website, it's just fabulous!! She will definetely be well prepared.  Do you remember the name of the linen company you go the napkins from? I would like to check that out as well.

Goodluck with helping with the planning and thanks for the advice!

Mishele here is the Linen website. I haven't ordered anything yet, but I will, and I hope it ends up being the right decision. I'll have to follow your planning since your wedding is sooner than my daughters. So glad you liked her wedding website,

Good Luck to you and Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
