Need a Travel Agent for DR Destination Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am newly engaged and have been with my fiance for almost 7 years! We were high school sweethearts! :-) We are looking to get married in Bavaro Beach/Punta Cana. My first concern is finding a travel agent! How did you find one? Do they offer travel expenses (flight, transfer btwn airport and resort) with wedding packages? Did you have to pay them? What company did you use?  in Bavaro Beahc in inafdklshjfljksfg

Please help!

Thanks!

Hi there and CONGRATS!!! There are a few threads here already talking about just this. It is hard and you will get stressed about - please be aware - but you'll be fine. I was using a TA (travel agent) that I found on here (the name resembles the name of this site but they actually aren't affiliated). They weren't my cup of tea (read a bit crappy) so we parted ways. Beware of agents trying to push you towards resorts they have packages with or that they'll recoup money from.

The creator of this site actually also has an agency. There TAs have been raved about in the reviews section for TAs. They also have a banner that appears in the right hand corner every now and again. Click on it and fill it out - someone should contact you.

Luckily for me, my sister is a flight attendant and the TAs through her job helped me get my package and settle on a resort. I'm letting the guests get their own flights. I tried to set up deals but it seems far easier to do it that way. I also think most internet savvy people will always think they can get a better deal than what is being offered by the TA and may just prolong things.

But before you get a TA, get a short list of hotels that you've researched online. Some TAs will only price quote 3 places so it's better to not waste your time with hotels you would never consider. Read the forum commentary on lots of the different resorts. I ruled out a few because brides were having trouble getting in touch with the on-site coordinator or you had to use their photog.

Hope all this helps. I'm a little over a month in and have learned loads already. Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
