My visit was for: Personal event (wedding, ...)

My husband and I chose 10 months ago to have a destination wedding in Cabo. We had been to Cabo 3 years ago, however not to Dreams. We were pushed by our travel agent in Dreams' direction once we knew we wanted an all-inclusive.

We arrived 3 days prior to the wedding because we had to get blood tests to make the wedding valid in the US. That was my major concern...getting a blood test in another country. Originally we were to have the test in San Jose del Cabo, however now they have changed the policy and the test actually comes to you, which was a HUGE relief. So that was a great start to our trip. And yes, it was completly safe.

Anyway, we stayed for 8 days at Dreams...4 for the wedding portion and 4 for our "honeymoon." We really had no down/alone time because we brought 33 guests with us from home, 20 or so stayed at Dreams. Everyone in our group is well-travelled. Let me tell you...there were NO complaints from anyone! From the food and drinks to the respect that you recieve from all of the staff, is just amazing. We were all treated like royalty...just the way you should. Oh, and on Monday, we even were able to see the Bears game on a giant screen they put outside by the chaise lounges....so seeing as though we are from Chicago, our guests were ELATED!

Here's the breakdown:

Food-wonderful! I come from an Italian family that knows how to cook. Their restaurants are great! We ate at all of them. And you have the luxury of ordering whatever you want...they'll try to accomodate you if they can. Every morning, we'd order room service...french toast, eggs, bacon, granola. We'd have shrimp tacos, ceviche, quesadillas, you name it, for lunch. You were never without a drink. Dinner, there was no waiting and no reservations. The presentation of all the meals was top-notch!

Room-We did request the honeymoon suite, and recieved it, although opted out of it for another room with a better view. It wasn't big, but we wanted the view more than anything, and it was breath-taking! Being able to wake up to the sunrise was such a treat every morning. Also, our cleaning lady was so sweet. She was immaculate. We left her $5 every day on the bed...remember, they work so hard for so little. On our wedding night the room was amazing. They went all out decorating our room with rose petals, candles, a cake, champagne...everything. It was perfect!

Wedding-We couldn't have asked for more. Mariana Martinez, our coordinator was so wonderful to us. I never had a conversation with her on the phone...everything via email. Our ceremony and reception went off without a hitch. The best part about the actual wedding/reception is it is your own. There were 2 other weddings there over the time that we were there, and we made an effort to go see them. It just amazed me how different each of ours were. So if you are planning a wedding there, just know that you can literally have it however you want it. It isn't staged the same for everyone. I didn't want the provided flowers, so Mariana just asked for what I wanted, and I told her over email, and the boquet was literally exactly as I explained. There were no problems. The day was perfect thanks to Mariana!

I use Trip Advisor a lot in planning trips/vacations. The reviews about Dreams were very disappointing. This resort was literally the exact opposite of what some reviews said. Some of our guests stayed at the RIU because they couldn't get into Dreams because it was sold out at the time. They had such a bad experience with the food, the staff and their room. I just think there are no comparisons. Dreams go above and beyond here. Again, if you are looking to have a great vacation where you can relax and enjoy your company, its a great place. However, if you want to have food like you would have in the states or drinks a certain way, or think that you aren't going to see bugs....stay in the states. The fact is not only are you in another country, but you are in the desert. You will see bugs and the food won't be just like home. If you want to complain, stay home. They don't deserve it! The entire Dreams staff is top-notch. We will definitly be back for our anniversary!

Thank you to Mariana!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
