Wedding at Hola Grand Faro / Crowne Plaza

Has anyone gotten married at this resort? If so, how did everything turn out? Also, we are not sure if we need to hire an outside wedding planner as the hotel seems to have a very competent wedding coordinator who already is included with the package. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi! I would also love to hear if anyone had their wedding here! We have set our date here in May 2011. So far Maria has been amazing with helping every step of the way and I have used her to contact all vendors and plan the wedding. Would love to hear from others! Thanks

Hi there. I have not had very much luck in finding other people who have had their weddings here. If you do, please let me know as well!:) As I'm sure you know already, Maria is leaving Hola Grand Faro. Hppefully the new WC is at least close to as good as Maria.

Who are the vendors you have contracted? From what I've read anyway, it seems for photo/video, Mango does a good job. Please let me know how things go with the new coordinator and how things are turning out as you go along. Good luck!

I will let you know! Yes I am sad Maria is leaving as she has been great with planning!

I am using Miguel Ventura for photography--- Maria had great things to say about him and his work is awesome. (Also much cheaper than Mango)

We chose Cabo Flowers after I contacted many florists and they were the most on top of everything. A little expensive, but again, Maria had nothing but good things to say of them.

DJ - we spoke with a few, and chose DJ Ricardo.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks! Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? How many people are you planning on having? Are the flowers very expensive? What are they giving you for the cost? Our flower budget is small, around $1500, and we're hoping to have something decent for that cost.

We are on a pretty slim budget and are going to have a lot of people (over 90 for sure) and we're a little worried about the coordination of everything with so many guests.

Thanks again! Keep in touch!

No problem...ask away!

We are having 50-60 guests. We aren't having too many flowers mainly for ceremony only, and were quoted about $600.00 Floral centerpieces were quoted about $70-100.00 per table. I would just give them your budget and see what they come up with for you, I'm sure they can find something that suits what you want in the budget- just be sure and have Hola send the request, as she received lower quotes than when I requested personally.

Maria had coordinated a variety of menu options for me ranging from very inexpensive and upwards to allow me to keep the wedding within my budget. As you mentioned before, hopefully the new WC is as on top of her game as Maria was to continue the planning with ease.

Any more questions let me know!

I am recently engaged and looking at Hola Grand Faro as well.  I have been talking with Asher from Baja Weddings, but I am unsure if I need a wedding planner for this.  Is it worth it or just work with the WC at Hola? Help?!

my budget is $6k for 50 ppl.

Thank you!

Jessica

Jessica,

I am going through Baja Weddings and I am also having my wedding at the Hola Grand Faro. Honestly at first I was not impressed at all with Baja Weddings, my planner was not on top of it at all. She missed 2 phone meetings because she forgot or fell asleep and was late on every phone meeting. Plus when I had an idea on what I wanted to do she pretty much shot it down... But then things got turned around because my original planner I " no longer works for Baja Weddings" and Coleen has now taken over my wedding. She is the owner and she is totally on top of it. I go to her for everything and she is so good at getting back to me in a timely manner. Plus many people say that where your planner shines is the day of the wedding. So at this point I don't regret at all having a wedding planner despite it being an extra cost. I hope that helps...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
