I want to get married in Punta Cana, Dr. However, the resort that I really want to have our wedding doesn't open until Winter of this year. Now...earlier this year the website said Fall of this year. So I was all excited. Now it changed and I called to verify this and yep...they are telling me the same thing.

They don't have an exact date either which sucks. Now the FH has his mind set on getting married next Spring. That's what he really wants. Only problem with that is if the resort I want doesn't open until Winter of this year and if we got married June of next year. That would only give our guest (lets say resort opens December) 6 months notice to travel that far. Which of course my mom says is not enough time.

To top it off the FH still hasn't said if he would like to get married in the DR. He hasn't thrown out any other suggestions. Which is fine by me cause then I will end up choosing. I am in a quandry. Not sure what to do. Pick another resort, wait for my resort and give guests 6 months notice or wait for me resort and try and talk the FH into getting married in Septemberhuh.gif

What's a girl to do...

I think waiting until September is the best choice since you want to give your guests lots of time to plan. Also because you still don't have a set date of when the resort is going to open. You don't want to stay there right after it opens becuase I'm sure they will still have a lot of kinks to work out.

Hope this helps.

I agree I think waiting until Sept would be the best decision because it would give ample time for guests to start saving, etc.

Plus, it'll give the resort time to weed out any 'growing pains' they'll probably have in the first few months.

i know what resort you're talking about and I have been waiting anxiously for it to open also - just for a vacay, not a DW yet!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
