Hey ladies:

The saga of my finding the perfect destination continues. However, this time we have finally decided that we will be getting married in Cape May, NJ. We have not decided on a particular venue as yet since we have to wait until FI comes into town in July/August so that we can take a weekend to visit the different venues that we have in mind.

If anyone has gotten married at or has attended a wedding in Cape May, please feel free to give me any recommendations, advice, etc. Here are the venues that we plan to visit (if you have any that we haven't found, please feel free to suggest). I read the post below about Cape May and it gave me a lot of wonderful resources to start with, so I will be researching those links in the meantime.

Congress Hall

The Grand Hotel

The Hotel Alcott

Peter Shields Inn

Union Park Restaurant

The Southern Mansion

The Washington Inn

sad to say, i have never been to cape may! i think the furthest down the shore i've driven is wildwood. i don't know if i could handle driving for that long, lol!!

however, i hear cape may has the best of the jersey beaches!! even nicer than LBI! how exciting that you've narrowed it down to there!

i also wanted to say i [LOVE] your monogram!! did you make it yourself?

Never been to a wedding in Cape May but we go down there every summer and stay at a B&B down there! It's a wonderful place for a wedding because you won't get the teenagers that go to Seaside and the other beaches closer to central jersey. We like it for that reason. It is romantic and actually you should check into having a wedding at a B&B. I would imagine the price would be significantly lower and some of them have just STUNNING backyards/gardens.

I think you made a great choice! =)

I have never been to Cape May either. It will be my first time when we go down there this summer. I did make my monogram myself. I created it in illustrator. If you have the program you can do it to. I didn't know how to use illustrator (and really I still don't), but I found a tutorial online (Design a Grungy Circular Logo | MyInkBlog), and followed it and created my first logo, and then it took me two days to create the finished product. A lot of trial and error, but I did it. Thanks for the props. If you need any help let me know.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely check out the inns and B&Bs when we are down there.

Hey Aisha! Wondering if you guys settled on a place? We talked it over last night and (after putting the deposit on the DR hotel!!) think that we would like to move the wedding up, closer to home and even smaller and then maybe do a more casual AHR. He drives me nuts.

  • 9 months later...

Hi!! I'm sorry to post this in your thread but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to start a new thread!! I am from South Jersey though! If you need any suggestions on S.J. weddings - please let me know! In the meantime - can someone help me with the questions below!!

My fiance and I are doing a Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. theme for our wedding!  Does anyone have any unique/creative ideas for wording on our response cards?

Our invitations say "from the city of brotherly love, to the city where we fell in love...join us as we continue our journey"

(we met in Philadelphia and "fell in love" in D.C.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
