Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am newly engaged. My fiance want to have a May 2011 wedding at the Riu Negril. I have spoken to a TA, who informed me that i could not book my wedding or get prices for guests until July! (because airfare for may is not available til then) I did however send a booking request for out date at the riu and they will be emailing me soon the give me details. I want to get my save the dates out asap so my guests have enough notice and are able to save for the big day:) Is she telling the truth or should i consult with another TA?

Also how did you word your STD's when you sent them out?

I feel like a lost cause lol! i dont know where to start planning this wedding....

PLEASE HELP! Thanks:)

ugh i know the feeling!!!!! the good news is you've come to the right place, this forum is so helpful and will help you throughout this entire process!!! any and every question you can think of you will find on here!

First, have you picked a resort yet? If not, I recommended spending lots of time in the wedding review section of this forum. Tons of first hand info from brides who have been in your same spot! Plus lots and lots of pictures so you can compare resorts! I originally had my wedding planned for Beaches Negril then changed my mind because of this forum.

Happy Planning! Looking forward to tracking your journey on the forum :)

Welcome and congratulations on your engagement!

Fares and schedules are not available too far in advance. Once the fares come out from the tour operators, you can get a group rate, but not a flight number or departure time (that will be announced later). I cant imaging a TA not wanting to give you a quote.....afterall, they want your $$$ :)

I would consult with more than one TA....just to make sure you get the best price you can get for your guests.

In the meantime, you can book with the wedding coordinator at your resort and send out your STD's....I'm sure there some info on this forum about STD wording.

Good luck!

Alicia

I'm getting married at the Riu Negril in January. We sent out STD magnets this past January with the date (so people could start to plan for the day and saving money). We just got our pricing quote last week, so we've spent the weekend doing our invitations. Through the Riu we were able to save our date online and once we book our room, then we'll confirm the wedding date on the Riu website. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
