Dreams Riviera Cancun - Gazebo or Beach?

Recommended Posts

We just sent in our deposit for 12/21/10.. Anyone have an opinion on the locations, gazebo or beach for the wedding? I've seen a few people say by the gazebo there are a lot of people laying out by it and such... I originallly told them I wanted the gazebo because I really liked all the pictures I saw of weddings at it but now I'm wondering if I should change it to the beach? Also, what is everyone thinking about the wedding packages? I really want the DVD so I'm thinking the Ultimate one..

I picked the beach because it looked a little more natural and serene. We're doing the ultimate package because of the dvd. Okay, more than just that. But my brother is leaving for the army right before our wedding and my older family members won't be able to travel to Mexico so we figured we could burn copies of the dvd and send them.

When I was looking at other resorts it just seemed the best deal for the amount of money and size of wedding (others only included 10, etc.).

Ok, on the beach then I'm assuming your not wearing shoes? I just can't decide.. Have you looked through the wedding package and picked out all of your "extras" yet? Theres the part in there about the microphone and speakers for $180 for the ceremony and $180 for the reception. Do you think that is necessary for everyone to be able to hear? And are you just going to use their photographer? I think we'll end up going with the Ultimate too just because of the DVD and because we're going to have like 35-ish guests. This is so helpful!!

No shoes for ceremony... maybe some blinged out flip flops but I might get something bright and flirty for the reception (but then again, my feet will prob start to hurt and Ill be back in flip flops!)

I've been trying to do my "extras" but I can't get Ana to email me back!! We went ahead and moved the cocktail hour to the night before the wedding because we didn't want to eat dinner so late (ceremony starts at 6). I think I'm going to use the Mexican Trio for the cocktail hour, too.

Flowers I'll pick when I get there.

Sound system: another bride that got married at DRC said that she was glad that they had the sound system b/c otherwise the wind and waves drown out the voices.

We're using they're photographer. I've seen some slideshows and they're nice. We're also on a budget but pics are important and we're going to add an extra hour or so.

I was going to rent the sound system for the reception and bring my iPod but then I saw that it was about $600 for the night just for that vs. $900 for a dj. Plus, I won't have to worry about making a 3+ hour playlist that suits all tastes!!

I love this site b/c I get more answers here to my questions than from the WC at the resort. It's so frustrating at times but then I relax (just a bit) when I think about all the other women in the same boat.

I'm just going with the flow and I'm sure that most things will be finalized either when I get there or right before.

I was a little worried about the lack of response for this resort's WC as well. This is our top pick for the wedding location but I just want a confirmation to put my mind at ease. I'm a little relieved to find out the other brides are having the same problem with quick responses. Guess I'll keep on trying.

i'm thinking of getting married there at Dreams and I'm nervous at the lack of reponse from the coordinators as I've read in posts...Are you having that problem as well????

FYI, I attended a wedding in 09 there and the Gazebo ceremony was beyond AMAZING!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
