Booking Contract - Help/Advice??

Recommended Posts

Please forgive me if there is something on here already about this, but I searched the forums and couldn't find anything. I also couldn't figure out what category it would go under, which is why I just chose general:)

So we just received the first draft of our contract... and I was wondering if any of you had any advice about things you think I should look for, beware of, etc in the contract?? I've read through it and have already found a couple of errors (they had the year wrong on the deposit dates, little stuff like that which is clearly a typo but we still want edited). But I thought I'd check to see if there is anything that people found in their contracts or that was missing from their contracts that they'd advise people to be aware of.

Also, I am very worried about the deposit situation. It lists a first deposit (due within 5 days of the contract), then lists a 2nd and 3rd deposit, which is 50% and 25%, respectively, of the cost for ALL our rooms in the room block. Does this mean that we pay for the rooms and guests pay us?? Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks in advance:)

I'm assuming you're talking about your contract w/ the resort??

Basically everything they promised you verbally - make sure it's down in writing! I made sure mundane things like the TAX RATE was specified. And oddly enough, the tax rate in Mexico went up but our contract specifies that our room rates wont change regardless of changes in tax so... I think now is the time to be super picky and make sure even the most mundane details are spelled out. You really can't be too picky! Better to be annoyingly precise than leave yourself open to loopholes that could cost you big $$$!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
