Any Occidental Grand Cozumel brides out there????

Recommended Posts

I'm in the midst of completing OGC wedding checklist for our August 6, 2010 wedding date. I find myself quite nervous and stressed!!

I haven't decided on the flowers (is it me, or are the prices outrageous??). I haven't found a dress (actually, I haven't looked yet). I haven't had time to contact Ricardo @ OGC to find out if they'll allow a priest to perform the ceremony (my family refused to attend unless a catholic priest was performing the ceremony). If that doesn't work out, I'll have to have the ceremony at the church which means another thing on my "to do" list and more money out of my pocket for my guest's transportation to the church and back to OGC. I have to look for and book a photographer (any suggestions? I wasn't thrilled with the resort's recommendation). At some point, I'd like to contact the DJ as well. Oh, and the TA I'm working with at Liberty Travel doesn't help much!!

How are you OGC brides doing?? Any advise, suggestions, thoughtshuh.gif? Please share! Thx!

Hello...

We are getting married February 2, 2010 so needless to say we have had plenty of contact with Ricardo Torres the wedding coordinator. He is usually quite good at responding fairly quickly (within a week) to emails I find. Unfortunately I can't answer your question re catholic priest, but I can agree that the flower prices are ridiculous. I sure hope they are nice. I actually decided to get the bridesmaid bouqet instead of the bride bouqet, as it was half the price, I don't have a bridesmaid, and just can't see paying such a high price for flowers that end up wilted or we end up leaving at the resort. We have 13 people booked for a beach wedding...at 5:30 PM as I requested a sunset ceremony. I just hope it does not get too dark for pictures. I too was not terribly impressed with the recommended photographer, kind of amateurish I thought. I have a friend who is a photographer (not wedding mind you)who has offered to take pictures and I am giving all my guests a disposable camera and asking them to take candid pictures throughout the day and ceremony. We have booked the Mexican trio so I hope that works out.

Have you been to the resort before? We went there last January for a time share presentation (I know...got suckered....) but silver lining was our original resort choice was undergoing major changes so we decided not to book and at least had a fairly good idea of the layout of OGC. Rooms are really nice and large, grounds beautiful, staff very friendly, had lunch at beach rest. which was very good. Anyway, glad to see another OGC bride on here, thought I was all alone ;-(((

We were in Cozumel Jan 28 to Feb 4 2009. It is a lovely island away from all the hub bub of busy cancun. Major cruise ships dock here so staying in the downtown core area is much livlier than staying say 15 minutes up the road. Not much night life except in the downtown area. Very safe. I found the beaches to be much nicer further away from downtown. OGC is about 15 minutes or so from cozumel airport and downtown area. Taxi's or rental car easily available to go into town from resort and /or tour around island. Have been to Dominican Republic numerous times, Jamaica and Bahama's, I enjoyed laid back atmosphere of Cozumel. I do enjoy bartering tho and found this did not happen on the beach or at the resort at all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
