Speaking of pocket - did you make the pocket yourselves? Is there a template for that

Amy - if you don't mind, can you tell me how much yours ended up costing? And how much time did it all take? I am beginning to wonder if DIY is more expensive then having Aylee's Designs do them for me. I am asking you, cuz I think yours are the ones closest to what I want to do, having the RSVP be a postcard and all.... How many did you make? I have about 144 I need to make.

I wish I knew how much it ended up costing, lol.. I used 2 types of plain white cardstock, the lighter weight was free (my mother brought it home from work) the heavier was about $20 for a pack of about 500 sheets (I plan to use the remainder on menues, favor tags, etc.)

I printed 3 passes per sheet / 1 envelope per sheet.
I used plain white #10 envelopes to mail the competed pass (again free thanks to mom). The stamps were pricey, $100!

I purchased a rotary cutter at Costco for about $30 (I like to say it was an investment)

I must have mailed about 150 passes but I really can't remember.

I won't lie, they were a PITA!! I ended up remaking the pass template so that I could used publisher. Printing sucked too, the cardstock for the passes was really heavy and my printer would not grab the paper.

In all honesty, I had so much time to make them, that even though they were a PITA to make, I'm glad I made them myself.

I think if you are in a time crunch, or your not really crafty, def have Aylee make them. I'm sure you'll be happy either way.

Foxy, I used glue lines as adhesive for the boarding pass envelope/holder. It was super easy cuz they already come pre-cut and are super thin. Here's the website: Adhesives

I don't know if this is helpful, but it cost me about $140 total including supplies and stamps.
Rotary cutter: $12, White cardstock from FedEx Kinkos: $8, Teal card stock from CardsandPockets: $42, Rubber stamps (w/ palm tree, etc.) $10, mailing stamps: $30, clear vellum envelopes: $30.

I defiinitely agree with Amy! They WERE a PITA! LOL!! I'm not a crafty person either, so I was super proud of the outcome. Whenever I hear any of my invitees say how much they loved the invites, I feel super proud and elated! Seriously, I can't stop cheesin'! (I'm such a dork!) They went over very well with everyone.

I'm doing mine now ... 180 of them.

 

There are 5 pages total for mine (plus pockets and mailing envelopes).

 

I am using 80lb White Cover Stock for the first 4 pages (main info) and a 60lb Bright Orange Cover Stock for the RSVP postcard (5th page). I am using 80lb Bright Blue Cover Stock for the pockets. And bright orange envelopes to match the RSVP postcards to mail the invites.

 

Our paper we got at an Xpedx store. Less than $40 for all of it, but I think Tom got a good discount). (1 ream/250 sheets each of the white, blue and orange ... and they threw in about 50 extra sheets of the white for free to keep me from having to buy a whole extra ream).

 

One of my BM and I worked on them Saturday night for about 3.5 hours and got a good bit of them cut (straight line cuts only). Yesterday, Tom helped some and another friend came over and in about 2 hours we got all the insert sheets cut.

 

Now, we are doing the corner round cuts and using an Exact-O knife for the detailed part of the Boarding Passes (should take the rest of the week in the evenings to finish).

 

Last is to cut the pockets. Tom's job is to glue the pockets and staple pages 1-4 of the Boarding Passes.

 

I'm using a mail merge program and a Handwritten font for addressing the invites and will print them out instead of hand writing them to save time.

 

I work for a copier/printer, so printing is fast and easy (and free).

 

Postage will be the big cost (180 invites and 180 RSVP postcards, which also take regular rate postage).

 

All in all, I'm 'guestimating' a total of about 20 hours to complete all 180, including assembly.

 

Cost estimate for 180 DIY: Less than $200 [<$40 for paper, $147.60 for postage]

 

Cost estimate for 180 to have somone else print/cut/assemble: $900 plus postage

That is definately helpful. That seems like a reasonable price, did you make alot? I want them to be nice, but if I am spending a million dollars, I might as well order them from somewhere. Did you print them yourself? (I am sorry, you probably answered all this somewhere else, but at work and don't have time to search right this instant...)

P.S. My BM that helped me does the Creative Memories scrapbooking stuff and had the paper cutters and corner rounders for us to use. But if you do have to buy them, it doesn't sound like they cost much.

I bought supplies to make about 125 invites and envelopes, but when I merged my mailing list, I ended up mailing about 70. (I forgot that everyone was couples--not individuals!) I ended up printing them at my office on one of the color laser printers on a Saturday. (I figured this place owed me that much since they skipped the merit increases this year!)

I did try to get them printed elsewhere, (Vistaprint, FedEx Kinkos, etc. but I had problems printing from the PDF files AND it would have cost about $1.20 per sheet!) I'm glad that I didn't have to spend that money for printing.
