registering taking convincing

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble convincing my Fiance we should register.

He is from Europe, were apparently this is not common and since we live together he thinks it just seems greedy. I know that a lot of my relatives will want to give us gifts, especially those that cannot make it to our wedding and I don't want to end up with a fuzzy toilet seat cover or something like that.

Any ideas on convincing him? I swear I have tried everything, so has my mom and my brother and his Fiancee.

People will really want to get you gifts. It's so much easier and more fun for people to get things they know you need and want. I may check around on Wedding Planning - Wedding Dresses - Wedding Gifts - Wedding Website for some registering advice, but I think you should tell him that it's almost rude not to register and see if that will work.

It will be way better than just getting random things that don't match because that's what will happen if you don't register!

Errrr.... where exactly is he from ? I'm from France and registries are tradition ! This is actually the first thing people ask you when you tell them you're getting married : "where are you registered" !

What is he into ? For instance, my FI is really into electronics and motorcycle (Or boobs, yeah well no registry for that lookatme.gif). Sounds like a guy to me, lol. Anyway, if I told him, let's go make a registry at Best Buy or Cycle Gear, he would love me FOREVER.

Another option you have is honeymoon registry !! Some of them are really cool to customize. This is what we went for (we also already live together, and have been living without our parents since 15 years for me, 10 for him, so we really have everything).

I had the same problem - and my fiance and I don't even live together (and he is from the states). He thinks its greedy to register for some reason. We still did it - but he keeps wanting to take things off...just keep talking to him about it -slowly but surely it seems to be working for me...and the more people that tell him it is not greedy, the better

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
