Honestly I have had a difficult time getting detailed information out of my WC. I ask a few questions and she always responds with a one to two sentence answer- NO details. Has anyone else had trouble with this?

I have been dealing with griselda. She is fabulous! She always answers my question in the e-mail after what i wrote so she doesnt miss anything. Just ask lots of questions. I so far have not had an issue but if i can answer anything let me know!

Hello all! I am very new to this site and to the wedding planning and am looking for some guidance. My fiance and I got engaged last Spring and have our hearts set on a Punta Cana Wedding!

We have looked around and have our heart set on Excellence Punta Cana. We had our very first vacation at Excellence and fell in love with it - yet getting everything organized and making sure we get our guests the best deal has been tricky! I am working full time and in school and my fiance is super busy so our wedding planning has been placed on the back burner - not to mention funding the wedding ourselves!

Ideally we would love to get married next Spring most likely. We tried speaking to one woman we were put in touch with through a friend but she didn't seem too knowledgable about the resorts or when the spring breaks were etc.(we have a lot of friends who are teachers!)

Has anyone hired a destination wedding planner? Is is a necessity? Does the resort have their own planner? I am so unfamiliar with all this but I would love to get a save the date sent out in the next month or so! Help!

Also, if anyone does have someone they absolutely loved please pass their info my way!

Thank you so much!

~ Melissa

Hey Melissa (in2themystic). It was difficult to find the right deals, and unfortunately no matter how you cut it, people might not be able to afford a destination wedding at all. Just keep that in mind. That being said im getting married in 2 weeks at the Excellence resort. From what I have seen so far everything was amazing. I have heard great things about the resort, and so far my experience over e-mail with the wedding planners has been wonderful. My family and I booked with a travel agent. My friend booked with spirit got a great deal, and then spirit cancelled their flight home, and it ended up costing them 300.00 more unfortunately. You also can remind people that they dont have to stay for the week. Some of my guests are doing 4-5 days because it was cheaper. Hope this helped! Ill have details after May 27th! Jenna

Hi!

Ok this is my first time ever posting in a forum! :)  I am very excited to become a member of the EPC brides club :) Based off of reviews about the Excellence and the fact that my fiance and I love the Caribbean, I think this is the way we want to go. We've tentatively set for October 13, 2012.  I've corresponded with Ana Luisa several times as recently as Friday May 6, 2011! I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions:

1.) We like the Excellence Gold package, but we may have around 30 people rather than 20. From the information that Ana sent me, it sounds like every additional person that is staying at the resort will be an additional $50/head.  Did I get that right?

2.) I've found deals through bookit.com and expedia. Did everyone leave it up to each guests to book themselves or do you recommend getting an agency to help book everyone? Is it a good deal?

3.) I know that pictures come with the gold package, but Ana sent me the photographer's website for packages and pricing? Does that mean we have to pay extra to even have a photographer?

Thank you so much for any advice you can give me! I look forward to sharing ideas and stories with you!

Hello Amy. Here are some answers:

1. Yes that is correct, anything over the 20 people is $50 per person

2.I recommend getting a TA to handle the details, plus you will probably get some extra perks depending on your group size.  We did :-)

3. The photos and video come with the package, but we chose to have an outside photographer.  I think you get like 20 free photos with the Gold package, but anything extra you would have to pay out of pocket.

Hope this helps!!!

Thank you so much! I think I just need to start asking more questions. There is definitely a language barrier but since my last post, things are starting to move along much more smoothly. I will be sending you a few questions soon! Really, thank you. It's a relief to talk to someone who has been through this

Hi Amy,

50$ per person is quite right and I believe there is additional cost for cake per person over 20 people. I don't remember the cost, I think it was around 4-6$ per person. I have 52 people booked for our wedding in June and it adds up. But from what I have seen and read. . . totally worth it!

We used a TA and she was really easy and great to work with. I had originally been set on using a local wedding coordinator who also offered services for destination weddings and that was a flop. I thought I needed a coordinator because I didn't even know where to begin. We ultimately ended up with a TA who is awesome and very detail oriented. I have her info if you decide to go that route. She handled flights, rooms, transportation and was even willing to help with wedding details.

We are going to use the photographer at the resort. The wedding package doesn't include enough pics. It seems like they will be the easiest ot work with and the photographer works exclusively with The Excellence so they are always on location. I am interested in hearing about the photographer Diva used though!

Also, if your interested in having a rehearsal dinner, they offer a semi-private dinner for free at the Italian restaraunt but it's an additional cost per person for a private dinner.

Hello Ladies, So i leave in 1 week! Ill keep u posted when i get back on my details. I actually e-mailed the photographer and told them what i specifically wanted and negotatiated a price over e-mail. I told them i wanted the rights to all the photos edited and unedited and had them change some of the package info. that i didnt want. The website is photosouvenir.com i think? Ana or griselda will give u the website and u can e-mail the photographer before hand and look at the packages. Luckily we have ended up with 20 people, so everything is included in our package.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
