Questions about the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar

Recommended Posts

I'm newly engaged and we've decided on Cabo and we're excited!!! We've started our research and contacting resorts but I have to say it isn't going so well. My mother is a travel agent who does lots of destination wedding and says she has never had such a hard time getting reponses from the coordinators. We're planning on about 60 guests with several parties throughout the weekend.

We're really interested in the Sheraton Hacienda but the coordinator hasn't been much help. We email her specific details about what we want and pricing and the responses we get are vague if we get responses at all. I'm afraid that there are hidden costs or something that will show up after we sign the contract or is she is just a bit flakey. Has this been anyone else's experience?

We really love the sheraton but i have so many questions. if you can shed some light on the issue that would be great. I'm also considering hiring a coordinator and wonder if that is a good idea and if someone has reccommendations.

THANKS!!!!

Hey there! I am getting married at the Sheraton on June 20th of this year. I'm sorry to hear you have been having trouble with communication. I have had the complete opposite experience. Viviana has been nothing but helpful and normally responds within the same day. Once my contract was signed I was handed over to their group coordinator Marco who has also been super helpful and responsive. In fact I have read so many horror stories on this site about coordinators not responding that I wrote them both a thank you email the other week. If you have any questions at all please let me know. It is an absolutely beautiful resort and I have found many people in the past year that have got married there and were very happy they picked this resort. I do think that it tends to be more expensive for food and drinks than some of the other resorts but everything else seems to be average priced. Good luck with your planning!!

Hi!

First off, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I am getting married at the Sheraton on July 18, 2009 and cannot wait. I experienced the same things with Viviana that you did. She took so long to respond and then seemed evasive. It has been no better with Marco (maybe worse). I don't think they are shady at all; I simply think my biggest problem has been the communication/language barrier. I hate to tell you this, but the slow responses/barriers only get worse unless you get a wedding planner. I am using Tracey at Sunset Weddings and she has made my wedding planning process PERFECT! I was having problems getting responses from the bakery, florist, photographer, etc. but with her doing it, if she doesn't get a response via email then she will call them. Or go by to see what's wrong. They know things about the area that I didn't and I've found that it has saved me money having her take care of the vendors. When I try to email them on my own, it is terrible; they don't know what I mean by anything. She speaks the language even though she is originally from the US.

But no worries! Once you get someone as a translator, it is so much fun! If you need any recommendations on anything, feel free to let me know. Also, if you want Tracey's email info I'd be happy to pass it on. You will love the Sheraton and your planning! Oh one more thing: on the contract tell them you only want the minimum number of rooms to show up on there. The min. number to get the site fees waived is 10 rooms for 2 nights. Even if you are having many more guests, that can be adjusted easier than reducing the number on the contract.

Good luck!!!!

I was married at the Sheraton a couple years ago, and found it to be really helpful to hire an outside wedding coordinator. I hired Maye and she knows everyone in cabo and really helped get things booked for me. The Sheraton is SO beautiful, and I had the wonderful Juan Carlos do my photography. I have a link to my wedding slideshot under my siggy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
