KW cake vendors

Hi all you KW brides. I just spoke with my FMIL and her sister knows a cake vendor in KW. The company is called Key West Cakes and his name is Paulie. I looked up their website and their cakes are really amazing! I emailed him some questions and he got right back with me. ( I think it was within an hour almost unheard of) My fiance and I are going to take a trip to KW at the end of the year for a tasting. I will keep you updated.

I know how hard it can be sometimes finding good vendors so I thought I would share. Hope it helps!

You will love them. FI and I went down in July and had a tasting with Joey and Paulie and I can't remember the woman's name that was there. Just do not order heart shape cakes! LOL. When you go there you can tell them I said that. We are using them as well and were excited that their cake came with our package at the Hyatt. We're doing the white cake and key lime filling..I think. They were very responsive when I emailed them. I emailed Croissants de France and I still haven't heard from them...and that was in July. So, I'm quite pleased with our choice and I know you will be too. If you need a list of other vendors I have collected several lists that I could share.

Thanks! We have most of our vendors so far except a florist. I'm still trying to decide if I want to pay someone to do them or have my friend put them together. She did her own wedding and they turned out really nice. Who are you having do your centerpieces?

Peggy Russell and I are working something out. Thanks for the reminder! I have to send her my inspirations. She told me that I would save more money going through her than through Mama's Flowers or Love in Bloom. So, once I get my arse in gear and send her my pics of ideas I will see what she comes up with and get back to you. I'm thinking of doing tall cylinders with key limes, water and a floating candle and then another tall cylinder with an orchid submerged in water with the floating candle. Then have votives wrapped with the main color surrounding the cylinders and then sprinkle petals. Pretty generic, but beats the pricing of flowers as a centerpiece.

My tastings went great. But that could be because I already had a few before the tasting...hey..I'm on vacation. I'm using Studio Julie for my photographer and I have not decided on TTD. Part of me wants to, but then part of me is unsure about ruining the dress, but then again when will I ever wear it again??

Luckygirl- I would love it if you let me know how everything turns out with the centerpieces. Flowers are so expensive. Your centerpieces sound great! I was thinking about doing tropical foliage in a vase with little white lanterns around it centered on a mirror with sand on it and some shells scattered. I tried posting a pic put had a hard time changing the size to fit.

My photographer is John Hunter. I'm not doing the TTD. No real reason other than never thought of it.

Thanks for all the cake vendor information. I still need to work on that and have been looking. I am happy to see that you both are booking with the two photographers I had also chosen. I too am on the fence with the TTD. I love it but my fiance isn't the most photogenic and I don't know if I can picture him rolling around in the sand with me. I did come across a bouqet I loved and it was on one of these websites Jhunter, studio Julie, or Marie Pierre (hairstylist). It was beachy with starfish, shells, and flowers. Have either of you come across something like that? It was elegant yet simple. Also I think one of you is planning a welcome dinner at Margaritaville. Did they give you a group rate? I am curious. My whole family is a bunch of parrotheads but I heard Margaritaville was a little over priced. I have a bunch of loot from their going into the welcome bags.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
