Pros: Small resort, 5* customer service, 5* food, very relaxing, pros at doing weddings, beautiful beach, every room has a view!
Cons: Basic rooms (e.g. no jacuzzis or tubs, small vanities), mixed cocktails are a bit weak, small pools

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at AB!  I wouldn't change a thing.  You can read my full review by clicking the link under my siggy, but to summarize:

This resort was everything we wanted and more.  It's small with only 98 rooms, all just a 30 second walk from the beach.  We wanted our guests to easily see each other while lounging and walking around the resort (as opposed to long walks or even needing to take golf carts to get around).  We wanted a beautiful beach, and theirs comes complete with beach butlers.  They walk around passing appetizers, bringing drinks, ordering lunch for you, etc.  The food is amazing!  Don't worry that there are only 3 restaurants.  We were there for 10 days and still didn't get to try everything we wanted.  The customer service is out-of-this-world good.  Every person on the property will go above and beyond to make you happy.

We cannot wait to go back here as it fit our style to a T!  We had 28 guests and not a one walked away with a complaint.

The reason I don't give 5 stars in all categories is because:

  • Accommodation Value: prices for AB are skyrocketing and I don't think we could afford their current rates.
  • Wedding Sites: They basically have one site and that's on the beach.  They made special accommodations for us to give us a location not on the sand.  It worked out wonderfully in the end but it wasn't easy.  They do have a beautiful backup location if it rains, FYI.
  • Communication: Planning weddings through Karisma is a trying process because all the planning is done through the Miami office.  You don't get to talk to the resort until you get down there.  Whether you a good WC in Miami or an absolutely terrible one is by random assignment.  We had the latter, unfortunately.  It was more than worth it in the long run, however, because Karisma really does put on classy, beautiful weddings.

FYI, we booked post-swine flu so rates were still low.  The rate listed above per person for two people in a double room (Deluxe category).
