So sorry to head about all your troubles with Ana. I am thinking of getting married here and have read all the reviews on her so am wanting to hire an outside coordinator to do all the work. Do you know whether the barcelo allows this?

Hi, We are slowly getting over the bad memories  I'm sure you can hire an outside wedding coordinator. I would email Ana and the hotel manager, do this for every email you send to Ana because that is the only way you will get a response. The hotel is wonderful and gorgeous. We were there for two weeks and did not get bored once so I would recommend staying there. I'm still reading bad reviews from couples that got married this January, it makes my stomach turn.  If you do get married at the Barcelo do not depend on Ana to do a good job or even to do the job at all. The managers are very accommodating so I'm thinking they won't have a problem with you hiring an outside coordinator. Hope I helped. 

I don't know if they allow outside coordinators, but if they do, hire one!  Ana is terrible at doing her job!  I wrote a review about the Barcelo on this website.  Check it out before you book the Barcelo.  I agree with Skippy--make sure that you cc every email to Ana's boss/bosses.  When I started to cc the concierge and the person in charge of guest relations, Ana would respond to my emails.  Otherwise, she wouldn't.  Be aware that she doesn't read all of the emails that are sent to her.  I can't tell you how many times she would "confirm" plans that were completely different from the requests I would send her via email--even if they were part of the same email conversation (i.e. if you would scroll down the email in which she responded to my email, you would see what I had requested and/or asked about).  It was a very frustrating experience!  Best of luck to you!

The two choices for the wedding cakes in the packages were either Vanilla or Chocolate so we picked the Chocolate cake. Guess what we got?....Banana. Ana didn't even check the cake over to make sure it was the proper cake. When we told her the cake was wrong she just put her head down and did nothing. She should have went to any of the restaurants and grabbed a chocolate cake from the kitchen. I would hire an outside coordinator for sure. You only get one shot at your wedding memories.

I am also planning to have my wedding here. I've been in contact with a coordinator named Romina. She has been very accomodating to me and has answered my emails promptly. I originally had Ana as a coordinator and from the first day of working with her I felt she wouldn't do a good job because of her attitiude. She is very rude and will not answer any of your emails. So I had to complain to the manager of the wedding dept. After doing so, I told them I didn't want Ana working on my wedding. They quickly transferred me to another coordinator. I am happy and hope things go well!! Im' sooo excited for my big day!
