Pros: stunning scenery, superior and personal service, outstanding and caring wedding coordinator
Cons: nothing

Based on the very positive reviews of the Riu Palace Riviera Maya on Trip Advisor, I was shocked to see little information on them on this website. But I'm so glad we booked our wedding at this resort because it was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend the place to anyone looking to get married in the Mayan Riviera. My husband (yay, I get to call him that now!) and I travel frequently to the Mayan Riviera area and have stayed at other all-inclusives as well as at hotels in Playa del Carmen. Since we love that town, we knew we wanted to find an AI that was close enough to town so our guests could walk or cab into it easily. This AI checked off all the boxes for us - close to town, beautiful beach, and small enough for people not to get lost. We had a group of 50 come down with us and all of them had very positive comments about the place. First of all, the buildings and grounds are visually stunning (please do not change the decor!). Employees work hard to keep the place clean and visually appealing. The beach is also fantastic - big and wide so it never felt crowded even though the resort was at capacity while we were there. Secondly, the service is beyond what I expected. Staff remembered who we were and what we liked to drink, and were just so friendly which added to the experience of the week.

Now about the wedding - the WC Veronica was amazing from the first email I received from her. She never took more than 24 hours to respond to my numerous questions, and was a saviour the day of the wedding when our ceremony got rained out. She made a quick switch to an inside venue and got everything in place so that the wedding could still go ahead. One small thing she did that meant the world to me was when I found out that the inside venue couldn't accommodate playing the cd of our selected wedding music, she asked the mariachi band (waiting for our cocktail hour to begin) to play music while I walk in, and also somehow found the song that we wanted for our signing and played it through her phone from the back of our room. I will never forget hearing the sound of the song while my head was down signing, and looking up to see her at the back with her phone in the air playing the song. Thank you, Veronica for going the extra step to make sure our day was near perfect. It was nice to have her there every step of the way - everything was perfect (minus the rain!).
