Pros: Gorgeous Wedding Site, Nice Reception Site, Good Food, Ability to bring own Vendors
Cons: Bugs, Expensive Packages, Lack of Communication

Hey Everyone-

So we got back yesterday from our 7 day honeymoon in Jamaica. So I will try to review everything. If you have any questions on anything I may have forgotten, please feel free to pm me.

Check In- Speedy, however our room wasn't ready so we went and ate lunch. We were not given a map of the property or any direction towards the buffet. Luckily I had given a map to everyone before the trip I got from a bride here on bdw.

Food- I'm a foodie so I am going to be quite critical.

Large Buffet- Lots of selections, but got repetitive. Breakfast was great, I love fresh omelettes, french toasts and crepes. Lunch-so so, again same crap over and over. Dinner-so so, again same stuff, quite repetitive.

Dolce Vita (Italian) Food was super yummy during the reception and when we went as one of our a la carte meals. However, the reception area had LOTS of mosquitos and my dad had to walk all the way back to the room to get OFF spray for all 35 of us. This restaurant also had roaches.

Grille (Steakhouse) Good Food, the ribeye wasn't a good cut of meat (I love steaks) but we had our rehearsal dinner there and everyone really enjoyed the food. Most guests really liked the lamb chops and a few liked the surf and turf.

Japanese- Horrible food, nice show. We have these types of Tepanyaki restaurants here in VA so I was excited but was quickly let down. The food comes out already cut up and the meat is served to the entire table. So everyone shares, steak, chicken, fish and small shrimp. So no chance of getting a nicely cooked steak, it was all well done (yuck). The fish was bass and imported.

Jerk Shack (open 12-3pm) Great food! This was the best at the resort by far. The jerk pork was dry but definitely the chicken was great and we ate it every day.

Ok so now on to the things that I really was surprised about.

There was a lack of seafood at the resort. As a frequent visitor of the Bahamas I just expected Jamaica to be free flowing with seafood. The one night we had seafood (Bass) we were told it was imported which sucked. Some of the staff where really nice while others just kept saying "no problem" but in fact until you stepped up and really complained and got an answer they brushed you off. Towels were always gone by 9am and beach chairs by 8am.

Room-No point in doing the Golden Club. The amenities (30 minutes a day on the internet, a robe/slippers and a small bottle of rum) were not worth it at all. All the rooms are exactly the same. My room had tons of mosquitos and 2 of my bridesmaids had roaches.

Swim Up Bars- AMAZING, great bartenders. The ones with white shirts and bow ties are trainees and do not get paid, so we made sure to tip them really well. We really enjoyed Shantoy and Oshane. Gerrick is a great guy too, he was an older guy who worked at the bar who was training the other two.

Beach- Again, coming from the Bahamas I was expecting a great beach and was let down. I was told the better beaches were in Negril and these on the resort were man made :( They were very rocky and I wouldn't get in them without swim shoes. Lots of coral and just not what I was expecting at all.

Wedding- The wedding location was AMAZING, it was so beautiful. Just a warning the gazebo is very windy. The rocks are perfect for pictures. Chandly the head wedding coordinator was very nice. We sat down for 15 minutes to tell her everything I was expecting. Everything was "no problem".  I gave her a few decorations and my cake topper and told her I wanted no flowers ANYWHERE! I wanted an extra layer of cake (my free package came with a 2 layer, 3 just looks better) so since I wanted no flowers she gave me the cake layer for free ($40 value). Now, her assistant Donnalee was rude and I had to put her in her place a couple times. Just don't allow them to treat you as if destination weddings aren't as important and you shouldn't get the best treatment.

The resort definitely isn't 5 star but it was honestly a gorgeous ceremony and the small things I didn't like were overshadowed by my amazing photographer capturing my special day!
