A friend of mine faced the same dillema. She was thinking it was better hiring vendors from the location since it would be cost efficient than bringing suppliers from her local hometown. However, she realized it was a case to case basis. She's a Filipina marrying a Fil-Am in the US and it took a long time for them to decide where to get marry. Eventually, they decided to have their vows in Florida. Some of the suppliers were from her hometown (relatives who were already part of the guest list) and the rest were from Florida. For example, she brought a wedding singer, a coordinator and a videographer from the Philippines and hired a photographer from Florida. The caterer, of course, was from Florida. Her husband has a friend who happens to be a restaurant manager so it all went well.
