  1. Yes - It is the private pool next to the beach behind the pavilion area. Consider DJMannia if you are going to do music! He was absolutely amazing. We gave him a few ideas of songs we like and he really just made the night for us by adding great music! Our Destination Wedding at the Now Larimar in May 2015. The best time of our lives. Highly recommend Claudia as a photographer and DJ Mannia (outside DJ). Amazing job and very flexible on the price!! Francina was awesome and made our day so special. Our guests still talk about what a fun time they had. I never imagined it would turn out so perfect. Take a look at the wedding pictures below!! Wedding and cocktail hour on Eclipse rooftop. Reception at the garden view pool. Beautiful! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=2QZM2LRm4bubg
  2. Congratulations. I think that $1500 is reasonable, but you get the best deal when you do a lot of leg work. I was in the same boat with not wanting to make my guests spend too much. I was able to get prices of $1155 (5 nights in the deluxe garden view room) this also includes the flights from Pittsburgh. We went through a travel agent who used apple to get the room (which also have a promotion running of buy 5 rooms get 1 free - you have to pay the sales tax only). Our agent went directly through US airways to get the flights for $535. The $1155 includes absolutely everything (except for the airline baggage fees $15) which I think is a super reasonable price for 5 nights. We will likely get 3 free rooms (~$3,000), so we will take that in the form of a check and use it to help our guests out. A few other guests and ourselves are doing 7 nights (on a direct charted flight also booked through apple) for $1445. This is an amazing price for everything (the charters do not charge for baggage, so this truly is the all inclusive price!! While these are good prices, I have had to do a lot of work to push for better prices. If you're willing to do a lot of the work upfront and search for promotions you can definitely find good rates. Our wedding is in May, so these are exceptionally good prices for a May wedding / stay. Good luck!! Jamie
  3. kosrae89, That is awesome! I bet you're so excited. Any recommendations you can give when you get back would be much appreciated! Let me know who you photographer is and how you think they did. Also, if you happen to stop by the eclipse terrace can you take a few pictures from all the angles so I know what I"m working with. We are having our ceremony there!! Thanks in advance and I wish you the best!! Enjoy!! Jamie
  4. Hi Dana Marie, We getting married May 7th and following the same timing schedule as you! You're questions are good ones that I should be thinking about. I dont' have much advice on the hair appointments, but I did ask about the outside DJ. We are using DJ mannia and my WD said that we will only be charged the set-up fee for an outside DJ. There was no mention of the $500. This is the fee she gave me: Hi Francina - I'm exploring all our options in order to save on wedding costs. Can you please tell me what fee I would be charged if we brought in an outside DJ who provided the following? MC US$ 44.25 Professional DJ : US$188.55 ( for all detailed below) DJ Booth Sound System Wireless Microphone Robotic Lights We are also considering doing the pictures before the ceremony to avoid rushing through them during the cocktail hour. I hope this helps!! We are staying May 3 - 10, so maybe we'll cross paths!! Best of luck, Jamie
  5. @@Cwright I apologize for the delayed response, but I have not been on here lately. My wedding day is May 7th and I'm doing my own centerpieces and aisle decor. I'm going to pack as much as possible. My colors are shades of purple. I'm going for a more elegant but simple looks. My bridesmaids are wearing eggplant purple dresses, but I'm decorating with different shades of purple. I've purchased lavender, purple, and cream flowers with accents of green. They are silk flower which look pretty realistic. I also purchased lavender and silver sequin table runners and different votives and submersible lights that I may add some accents to. I'm trying to find mercury glass vases for the flowers (but might opt to DIY with plastic containers so they travel better). If you are serious about sharing any of the decor, I would be happy to make arrangements and leave when I can there. Just let me know!! Thanks, Jamie
  6. Those are some really good ideas!! I thought about doing paper or silk pomanders as well, I wasn't sure if they would still charge 25% of their real ones would cost. Did you get any guidance from your WC on the costs for those? If you do, will you please share. I also had no idea that there were no charges for outside photographers. I'm really going to look into that now!! Thanks for sharing.
  7. I was thinking the pomander balls would be nice to DIY also. Do you know if they charge 25% of their cost for each one you bring. For instance the resort sells them for $80 which means they would charge $20 for each one you brought in on your own? Seems a little steep. I would like to work out the set-up charges with the WC before I decide what to bring. My creative was of getting around the centerpiece charge is to make a favor that will double as a nice centerpiece. For instance have beachy looking picture frames made with a picture of us that says thank you. You can put these in a circle in the middle of the table and add some flowers to them. That way you have a nice centerpiece and you're not having to pack the set-up fee. (From what I hear there is no charge for favors).
  8. I just saved my wedding date of May 7 2015 at the Now Larimar and would love any advice that there is out there. I'm a pretty frugal person, so love DIY ideas that will keep costs down. I have seen a lot of people on here that share their decor with other brides that have weddings at the same resort near the same time. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Right now I have no color ideas and am open to everything. I feel like when you have a destination wedding at such a nice resort, the little details really don't matter. I just want my guests to enjoy a nice relaxing day with great music!! Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas!! Happy planning!! Yes - I am, May 7. Have you selected a day? From what I've seen on here, most people opt to bring their own centerpieces or use an outside florist. They swear that it's cheaper than using the resort's flower and centerpieces (even if they charge a 25% set-up fee), but I'm contacting the local florists to see if that's the case. Hi ladies - Congratulations on your engagements!! I am also having my wedding at the Now Larimar in May 2015!! May 7, to be exact!! Have you thought about sharing decorations with other brides that have weddings planned around your date? I was reading posts from the 2014 and 2013 weddings and it seems like a few people did this. Let me know if you're intersted. I don't have set colors or themes yet, so I'm open to ideas. Thanks!! I've heard that the WC's usually give the brides a spreadsheet to help calculate the costs of the wedding, based on the package they select. Does anyone happen to have this spreadsheet. I've reached out to my WC, but no response. Please help!
