  1. @@KatieR I hope the issues with your wedding planner not responding we're fixed. About 2 months before my wedding I started emailing my wedding planner more often and she responded immediately. It wasn't like that when it was months and months before the wedding, but as it got closer she was more responsive. That's really weird that it's so close to your wedding and she's not responding to you.
  2. So I was on a different wedding forum and someone posted their annoyances about being a guest at a destination wedding. I understood why she was complaining that it cost her a lot of money to attend her friends wedding, but someone chimed in saying that couple's who have destination weddings are completely selfish. A few people agreed with her. Do you think people who are invited to destination weddings think the same way? They don't HAVE to go if they can't or they don't want to, so how is that selfish? My fiance and I are having a destination wedding in Cabo and have been worried about how much money our guests are going to spend. We chose Cabo because it was the least expensive as far as traveling costs for everyone. We’re letting our guests stay wherever they want and we gave them lists of cheaper hotels. We chose an affordable hotel and are only spending about $600 each for our week long stay, which includes airfare, but its not including food. We’re also paying for their transportation from the airport to downtown Cabo. We don’t expect every guest we invited to come and we don’t expect everyone to do all the activities we want to do. I don’t want this wedding to be all about us. My fiance and I have been invited to several destination weddings and we politely declined. I don’t want any of our guests to feel like they have to go. For family that can’t afford it, we are paying for their trip, and we are insisting that our guests not give us any gifts. I don't want our guests to grumble when they get our invitation in the mail. I never thought people would think that we're selfish for having a destination wedding. What do you guys think? I don't want to upset our guests, but at the same time, they don't have to go. Were you ever invited to a destination wedding and was completely annoyed by it?
  3. @@flo628 I mentioned that I was thinking of booking DJ Fradel a couple of months ago to Illeana, but she said to hold off booking him because she said sometimes he doesn't show up and sends an assistant instead. Was this the case with you? He's the most affordable compared to the other DJs mentioned on here so I'm not sure if I'm totally bothered that an assistant would come instead.
  4. Your wedding looked fantastic @@flo628, and even though you didn't like your hair and makeup, you still looked great! I'm getting married at Casa Dorada next year and have Illeana as my wedding coordinator also. I was a little worried because all the reviews on here have said she was great and responsive, but was a little disappointed or confused as to why she wasn't responsive with me. Now that I know that that's how she is, it makes me feel a little better. I thought I was being an annoying bride to her or something, that's why she wasn't responding to me. I've read on your other posts before you got married saying that you were going to have her go to Costco to buy the alcohol. Did you still end up doing that, or did you just end up using the hotel for the drinks? Sorry for all the questions, but I loved the idea of having the pingpong table and foozeball table for the reception. I always see these pictures of games at weddings, but didn't know how I could do it for a destination wedding. Did you rent them or were they from the hotel? Also, did you ship any other wedding items through Casa Dorada's sister hotel? I live in San Diego, and Illeana gave me this option to send my any wedding items when I first talked her about 5 months ago, but I'm not sure if that's still an option that Casa Dorada offers anymore because I heard that a lot of items shipped ended up being broken so they stopped offering that service. Any other feedback you have would be great! Communication with the vendors was hard enough before, but with Hurricane Odile, I'm sure the communication will be worse... Thanks!!
