  1. @lia33- I totally understand. From going through the motions with wedding planning, I can see how weddings can be very costly. I am very surprised of how much a destination wedding is costing myself. I guess it depends on what packages you find and how much decorations you want.

What is everyone doing for favors and their OOT bags?

  2. March 2015 for us.. Dreams Riveria Cancun but might change it due to the amount of ppl coming.

Are you guys bringing anything decorations wise from NY? Have you found any stores (in NY) helpful?

Did anyone look at NY locations first before considering destination?

  3. Hello,

Does anyone have the wedding menus that they can send to me? I feel like I can't find a description of what the silver menu includes. Thanks in advance.

Also, for those who have had their weddings, congratulations! How was the food? Also, how was the cake? I am big lover of cake (love red velvet) and my TA recommended us not to get a separate cake vendor. Is there any reviews that anyone can provide??

    Thanks.

  4. Hello everyone,

I don't know if this even exist but does anyone have a list (or made one) of outside vendors that Dreams Cancun allow on their resort? I know vendor fees are charged but I'm trying to make a budget of the additional items that I want that the resort doesn't necessarily provide.  (for ex: Flowers, Linens, Music, Photography and Makeup). Anything else I'm forgetting?

Also- for those who have had their weddings recently- I have a couple questions for you.

    1) How was the DJ (that comes along with the package)? They don't allow you to bring other DJS or live bands, right?

I've read mixed reviews and I'm come from a family that likes to dance. It would be bummer to do a DW and have mediocre music.

    2) Food/ Cocktail Hour- How was it? Has anyone been able to attend their cocktail with their guest and do pictures later? If so, how did you structure it? One pet peeve of mine is missing parts of the wedding reception. A lot of couples get their pictures taken and as a result,  they miss cocktail hour.  I would prefer to be right along with my guests chatting it up and enjoying the cocktails and hors'doeuvres.

    3) Has anyone tried to incorporate fruit into their centerpieces? If so, where do you get it from?

    4) For those who had their reception in the El Patio and/ or Portofino, was it worth it? The price seems a bit expensive to have for a private area so just wanted to hear your thoughts.

    5) When arriving from the airport, are they still doing construction on the long road before you get to the resort? I just remember it being very bumpy coming in.

    6) Looking for creative ideas for wedding favors (other than maracas), any ideas you can throw out?

Sorry for the long post but any answers you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  5. Great. Looking forward to seeing it. Can you message me the pictures @@tkennerson?

Also, one other thing... does anyone know if the long dirt road to enter into the resort has been fixed yet? I just remember from riding to the airport, it was bumpy ride right before approaching the resort. They were doing construction last time I was there (back in January)

Hey girls! I finally got my wedding pictures! I posted all 575 (lol!) of them on my facebook page. There are pictures of my decorations and locations if you ladies want to check it out. https://www.facebook.com/jamie.ann.16568?ref=tn_tnmn
I did not use the resort photographer, but because I bought a package that included a photo shoot I used it for a different party which I wouod recommend so you get your money's worth. The resort photographers weren't bad, but there was a big difference between their photos and my outside photographers. I used Life Long Studios out of Tampa and they were unbelievable.
I ended up being upgraded from the ballroom to El Patio, but the ballroom is beautiful in person, much better than the pictures.
I may have to add you as a friend before you can see them. I would write a review but everything was great, I have no complaints. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask and I will let you know. Having a destination wedding at DRC was the best decision I ever made, it was so much fun (and easy!)

Hello! That is the terrace of Desires which is used as a backup rain location. It is really pretty. From what Ayahamint told me you can not reserve it because they serve food there normally. You can request to have it as your rain location though.

Thanks. I just added you on Facebook.

  6. @@pekchw She's just had not great experiences since there are so many weddings a day with communication and other things. At the time when I asked her about them she was covering for someone in the agency and was doing damage control. The bride could have just been super picky though. All the pictures I have seen look great though!

    Thanks for answering jsparrow10!

  7. Is anyone having a welcome reception?

The tour last week was awesome. We're working with Elisa, and I have to agree with all the post about the ballroom. The pics online don't represent it well. It also seems like they've updated the draping. We've actually changed our location for the ceremony.

    Hi,

Did you happen to take pictures of the ballroom while you were there? Also, are you having your wedding ceremony and reception there? What about cocktail hour?

    So exciting!!!

  8. My travel agent suggested Azul Sensatori for us. A top priority is the beach and the color of the ocean since it makes for gorgeous pictures. She sent me a ton of info, pictures and video of the resort I can forward you if you'd like. It was ruled out for us because it was not 100% handicap friendly and my fiances twin is in a wheelchair. I was also told to stay away for Dreams for weddings so didn't look into them. Good luck it's tough decision for sure!

Just curious, what did you hear about Dream weddings and why to stay away?

  9. Hello all-

Does Dreams allow you to hire a live band? Its been very hard to get answers to questions since my wedding is not this year so hoping any new or past brides have had any experience with this? And if so, what companies have you looked into?

I like the live band experience and is afraid the Mexican or the Caribbean trio is not going to give off the same effect.  For past brides, would you happened to have video of the Mexican/ Caribbean trio?

Also, for those who are having their reception on the beach, do you think its going to be uncomfortable (hot?) once everyone starts dancing on the dance floor? Trying to consider if the ballroom option is better considering the risk of having it on directly on the beach (ex: sand blowing into food, small dance floor (even though it looks pretty cool with the fireworks coming out of the side of it), weather, etc.

    Looking forward to your responses.

    Hello,

Can you tell me what part of the resort did this bride and groom have their ceremony? It does not look familiar and I love the canopy look. Also, can you confirm if they did their reception in the ballroom.

    Thanks.

  11. First off, congratulations everyone!

Just wondering about music offered among the Dreams packages. Has anyone looked into having a live band? If so, what companies have you looked into?

I like the live band experience and is afraid the Mexican or the Caribbean trio is not going to give off the same effect.

We just want an enjoyable experience.
