Hi ladies,
Anyone going to the bridal show on January 26th? It's the one that was originally schedule for January 12th.
-
Seeing all the NC brides makes me happy!
-
I'm making progress. Our STDs are back from the printer and we will be sending them out soon. We now have a website and hashtag for our friends/family to upload pictures. Now, the hard part begins...losing weight. Gotta love it!

So happy that my planner sent me to someone who can redesign my gown. Tune to get this weight off so we can get to work. How is everyone coming along?

I just fired them. TA was constantly pushing a resort that we did not want. She even had the nerve to suggest we cancel our wedding. I asked to be switched to a different TA but was told it would be best to stay with the TA I started with b/c she had over 20 yrs experience. The quote we were e given was $1500 MORE than the resort itself. The info the providedv from the resort was outdated. After making casks to the resort myself and booing my own wedding date, they had to go. STAY AWAY!!!Good lord. Thank goodness for these forums. I was thinking about using DW, but now after hearing all these bad reviews probably will stay away. -
Hi, Anyone know if a great dress designer in the area?
-
I'm using real touch flowers and taking them with us. I requested info from Tai Flora a month ago and still haven't heard anything.

Thanks :-)

Yes, we are taking flowers with us. The flowers are real touch flowers do we are able to take them. We chose Mann Travels because we have used them in the past. They book the rooms and flights for our group. We have our gift registry through them as well. My planner is Shawon McClure-Fields of SDS Events. She is AWESOME!Thank you so much for your response! so you are taking the flowers from Charlotte? what about MANN Travels, how did you pick them and what are they arranging? i was thinking of doing it through AAA since my husband to be has a membership and also my dad.... Who is your wedding planner? -
Our planner is Shawon McClure-Fields with SDS Events. I can PM her number to you if you'd like. We went with April's floral expression for real touch flowers (found her at a bridal show). I've seen great reviews on your TA. I'm trying to find a wedding website and app for our guests. So much or there to choose from.

Thank you :-)The thread is called... BRIDAL SHOWS IN CHARLOTTE, NC. it's only in the beginning stage. -
I feel like I haven't run across too many NC brides. I'm originally from NJ but went to Elon and now live in Durham. Any others out there? [/quote Charlotte bride here! I'm so glad I'm not alone. :-)

Hello, Our wedding is going to be in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Jamaica is a two hour direct flight from Charlotte Douglas through US Air. We have a wedding planner here in Charlotte who is AMAZING. We've hired a photographer in Jamaica. We are using a real touch florist from Charlotte as well. Our travel agent is with Mann Travels. I hope this helps you. If you'd like more information, I'm happy to share. Happy planning. :-DI am so new in this and I need some feedback on places you guys considered (flying from Charlott NC) any vendors that help you with your wedding from here? did you take your own photographer? did you use a travel agency? was your marriage catholic? etc... -
REALLY? Do you know the name of it?

HELLO :-D

I said the same thing when we got our contract. I'm afraid our budget will be blown if they decide to increase prices. I hope we can lock in prices, but with our wedding not happening until 2015, we felt it's too early to be paying for things. Anything can happen like someone going out of business. They aren't making the planning process any easier.
-
LOL...I feel your pain. Wow, the resort is booked already? Did you offer room options for another resort?I had 30 days from the day we signed the contract to get commitments/deposits for 15 rooms. Otherwise, we would have to pay $200/room to keep our contracted rates. I called and emailed after sending the Save the Dates. We had 13 rooms booked by the deadline and so far, we have 17 rooms with 43 people. I had at least 3 people who asked to bring friends and I said OK. It helped me get the rooms booked and I know most of them anyway. We still have at least 2-3 couples who have said they want to come but have not made their reservations. But, I got an email from my TA yesterday telling me the resort has sold out already for several days in April and May 2014. She warns that if people don't book by Nov/Dec. they may not be able to get a room in June. So I sent another email today. We'll see!! I'm trying to be patient but it would help to have a final count so I can start buying stuff for the OOT bags.:girl_werewolf: -
Hmmmm...a "c" list. We may need to add that. I would send an invitation to those who just want one, but I know a few family members who would invite others to come along. Uh no! This is our wedding not a bring your ratchet friends and make it all about you trip. LOL Did you give your guests a cutoff date? I don't want someone to decide at the last minute that they want to come.Sounds like a good plan to me. My wedding is in June 2014 and I sent Save The Dates in May 2013. I only reserved rooms for those we were pretty sure would come. I've split my guest list into 3 parts, A, B and C - the ones I know will come, the ones who may come and the ones I know won't come but will want an invitation anyway. Almost everyone on the A list booked within the 30 days per my contract. A couple of the B list have also booked. Of course, some of the people who have put down deposits don't have their passports yet. I'll send them reminders with the formal invitations I plan to send in January. Plus, I'll send another reminder in mid-March since payment in full and a final count is due April 4th. I decided to only send out invitations and skip the announcements to save money. My family operates like yours. LOL!! -
Reading this thread has me nervous. My wedding isn't until 2015, but I know how my family operates. LOL I'm on the fence about reserving a block of rooms b/c I don't want to get stuck with paying. It has been a struggle getting some of my family to apply for their passports. I'm praying this will not be a nightmare. We have two guests lists. One is for those that we are sure will be on the ball and the other is for those who just may get a wedding announcement instead of an invitation. Sounds horrible, but I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Thank you for this awesome tip!Hi, I had to come back because I realized I spelt the website I mentioned wrong. It's mailchimp.com -
Hi, We are not going for the barefoot in the sand type of wedding either. My gown has a long train and people know me for my shoes, so of course I have to have some sick footwear on my wedding day. We will take pictures on the beach, but our ceremony will be overlooking the ocean. The guys will be in suits (not linen) and we are asking that our guests be island chic (no jeans).
-
Stand your ground. Your day, your way. We've gotten some lip about choosing to have a destination wedding and not having a reception at home when we return, but as soon as I asked who was paying for all that, lips were closed. LOL I'm kind of a tough cookie.

We paid $250 to secure our date.
