  1. @angelnjewels The dress is gorgeous! I had a similar situation, it's nor as if my family didn't like the dress I was in love with but it wasn't "beachy", and I should go for the greek goddess look, light, breezy, sexy, etc. I stood my ground and got the dress I was in love with. Needless to say afterwards I felt as though maybe I rushed it and had a feeling of buyers remorse. I bought a discontinued floor sample in my size so it's sitting in my closet now. When I pull my dress out of the closet, hang it up and look at it I get so happy and excited. All of the questioning goes away and I know I made the right decision. In regards to how I felt when I knew it was the one, there were no tears but I felt like a bride and wanted to keeo the dress on! I think everyone reacts a little different to their dress. I knew ir was my dress no matter what anyone else thought. My family does love it and know how happy I am with it!
  2. You look great in all of them! My dilemma was a little different as my 2 preferred styles where different from yours. In the end I went with the one that made me feel like a bride (as cliché as that sounds). The other 2 were gorgeous and surprisingly fit me amazingly, but they could have been just a gorgeous red carpet dress. Don't know if that helps you at all but it's a bit of what I went through happy dress shopping! !
  3. We are most likely doing a private dinner as we were informed that parties over 40 ppl must have private since none of their restaurants can accommodate more than 40 for semi-private. They have a list of around 15 different set menus that vary in price/head (sorry my fiance is actually doing most of the communication with GP so I don't have this info at my fingertips, if you knew him you'd be surprised by this ;-) ) We didn't check about extending the beach bash, but we were advised that timing would be as follows: Private dinner is 4 hours (6-10), beach bash is 2 hours(10-12), and the beach bash must end at midnight. Hope this helps, it's always worth asking them your questions to see if there is any flexibility or ability to work out an alternative. We did find Rocio was extremely busy so it was difficult to get timely responses until she passed on our communication to one of the assistants. Oh and the FB group is BDW Grand Palladium Riviera Maya
  4. Hi Tengotulove, I am not sure where you currently live, but I'm in Canada and what we did is book our wedding package through a travel agent group rate. It grouped the flight, transportation to GP, and the resort all together at a discounted group rate. In addition, when you book a group rate like this you usually get a deal where every X amount of people that book with your group, you get one rate (before taxes) free. Therefore we are getting at least one of our rates, if not both, for free just paying the multitude of airport taxes, etc. every little bit does help. As for the 2014 packages they look absolutely beautiful, we are going with the Mayan Pearl 2014 package (we did notice that they have gone up a couple hundred dollars from the 2013 prices). And we haven't checked for sure, but maybe there is another option than the $20/person over 8 people at the ceremony? it's worth asking... We're very happy with our GP choice and it will be a stretch of our budget, as we are probably hitting over 40 (you must do a private reception if over 40 as none of their restaurants are large enough to accommodate a semi-private reception over 40), and we are thinking of the private beach bash. But definitely do some more research as you may be able to work something out for your budget Unfortunately I think Rocio is very busy and she did take some time to respond to us with our emails. Now we are working with Grace and she has been very helpful too Hope this information is a bit helpful, I felt very lost when we started researching resorts, so glad our travel agent provided us with this option since we didn't even look at it ourselves!
  5. Hi ladies, I'm new here and I am so excited I have found this forum. Looks as though you are all able to share and give each other great advice on the upcoming GP weddings:) I still have just under 6 months and things are moving along well, it's good to know I can come here to get some advice from fellow GP brides. Congratulations and happy planning everyone! Sarah
