  1. Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lori and I'm getting married at the Now Jade on May 8, 2014 (Eek! So soon!!). I read this forum often, but I'm such a procrastinator that it started giving me heart palpitations because brides getting married a year after me were so much further in their planning that I was haha. I am now all caught up and was hoping to hear from some of the brides who will be there from May 3rd-10th. I have a group of 53 people joining me. The majority of the group is in their 30s. My biggest concern about the Now Jade from the inception of booking was the lack of liveliness during the day (that was not catered towards families and children) as well as the lack of nightlife. My group is no by means looking for a Spring Break in Cancun atmosphere, but can certainly be a fun and boisterous crowd. I'm sure between 50 of us, we'll be able to create our own fun, but would love to hear from previous brides regarding the atmosphere at the main pool during the day and the sports bar/disco at night or brides or brides who will be down there with me with a similar concern. I would just hate for my guests to pay all of this money to be kind of bored (but nonetheless bored in paradise!). While the TripAdvisor reviews all speak to the activities at the main pool, none really talk about music playing or fun at the pool bar or the dancing at night or anything.

    Hi Lori,

We will also be at the Now Jade from May 3-10 and our wedding is on May 7. Don't worry, you're not the only one, we are leaving in less than 5 days and are not fully ready yet. Still working on our playlist, as I write this post.

We have 36 guests, majority of our group is in mid-30's too. I had the same concern and really hope it will be a bit lively when we are there. Maybe with our 2 groups, we will be able to put some ambiance at the sports bar/disco of the hotel :)

Does anyone know if the resort  makes the programs for you or do you have to make your own? Leaving in 2 days!

Have a nice trip! What day is your wedding again? We are leaving on Saturday! :)

  2. Hey everyone,

I finally got around to writing a review for our photographer Sascha Gluck for our Now Jade wedding. So if you're still on the hunt for one, you can check our his review here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/index.php?app=reviews&module=reviews&section=reviews&do=view&id=4374

Thanks for sharing! We also hired Sascha Gluck and our wedding is on May 7! Got excited reading your review!  :)

  3. Ahhhh!! Less than two months til we will be there!!! Starting to get a bit stressed. We don't have much time til we have to submit our final paperwork to the wedding coordinator (45 days prior to wedding).

    How's everyone else's planning going?

Aaaah!! We are all starting to get stressed! May weddings are coming up FAST! We sent our paperwork to the coordinator last week, and now I am wondering if we took the right decisions, if we chose the appropriate hors d'oeuvres and meals etc etc. Too late, the form is sent! :P  We need to work on our playlist, as we did not hire a DJ...

  4.

This is what we did for our wedding - one long table.  We had a wedding party of 5, and I had the Maid of Honor and Best Man set next to my husband and I and then their partners beside them.  I had each member of the wedding party sit beside their significant other.  I also had our parents sit directly across form us, with our dads seated beside each other.  It worked out perfectly, no one felt left out or separated.

That's what I thought to do originally, but our MOH is single, so we'd have an odd number (5 ppl) at the table.... hmm

My wife :) I'm a guy.... (rare on here, I know)

but yeah I get what you're saying, still on the fence for what to decide... I think there's a good argument to be made either way

We are doing one long table. We only have our best man and maid of honour as well.

  5. Hi Ladies!

So just an update, Im just under 3 months to go! WOOHOO! I contacted my travel agent to get an updated itinerary on how many guests booked and how many rooms have been booked. So far we have 17 rooms booked! 27 people plus the fiance and I is 29.im positive of another 10 people who are booking so it seems like we will have about 40 people! Im excited so many people are able to join us, but it is more then i expected! Especially since the divine package is good for 25 guests! Oh well!

Im also a bit nervous because we have the terrace for our reception but now that i know well have more guests im not sure if it will be too tight!

On another note, I want the reception and pergola to look as pretty and romantic as possible. my vision is loads of rose petals and flowers hanging off the aisle chairs and candles.

What type of decor do future or past brides think are a good idea to bring or have brung? So far i have table runners and chair bows, rose petals, and  paper lanters. Ill also be bringing some bubbles to leave on the chairs at the pergola.

    Any adice/tips would be great!!!

    Thanks Everyone!

    Emma

    Hi Emma!

Congratulations! We getting married on May 7, so we are getting quite close as well! :) We also ended up with 40 guests and we are keeping the terrace for the reception. It will be cozy :) I really wanted to have the reception held outside…and personally, I prefer being a bit too tight than the risk of a room looking "empty". But more space for dancing and partying at the Bamboo Room for sure…

  6. We are getting married on May 6th! Originally we were on May 7th at Dreams Cancun, but they are shutting down for renovations a few weeks before then because they're being sold.... soooo long story short we had to find another location and start the planning over again. We chose the Now Jade!

    Hi Thurber,

We are getting married on May 7th! We will be there on the same week :)

From Pilar regarding vendor fees if anyone is interested.

The outside vendor fee is $350, ( florist,  band,  decoration company, live music) but this doesn't apply to photographers as they are not categorized as vendors. Your photographer(s) will be required to pay a $65 per person for a wedding day pass. We request  the name and time that  the couple  come to the resort

    Megan-

We are also doing the Pergola and Bamboo room and think we will have 25 people. I am also curious to see what everyones thoughts are.

We are also thinking of doing a Catamaran. I read somewhere that it cost about 1000-1200 for 30 people. If you find anything out, I would love to know more.

    Thanks!

    Marta

    Hi Marta and Megan,

We are also thinking of a catamaran excursion with our wedding group. I am considering Paradise Catamaran, as I read good reviews in previous posts as well as on Trip Advisor.
