I just got back from my wedding at Moon Dance Cliffs and can't say enough about it!

First, Kerry is amazing.  She's a one woman show and gets.it.done.  I really don't know how she keeps it all straight.

We had 50 people and had the resort to itself.  We had babies, friends, old people.  EVERYONE had a great time.  The food was amazing and the place was beautiful.  The staff, by far, made the experience top notch.

Stacey Clarke was our photographer and omg is she amazing.  I absolutely LOVE her.  She's fun to work with and her style is awesome.  She's really really amazing.

We used EMC for our videographer.  They were super fun.  We haven't gotten our video yet but I really liked working with them.

We used Sound Illusions as the DJ and he was great!  The lighting package is well worth it.

We used Margaret Myrie for our cake.  We did a plain cake with rum cake as one tier and vanilla as the other.  DELISH!

Our flowers were by Floral Fantasy and were exactly what I asked for.

I had my hair and makeup onsite and it was fine.  I wasn't too focused on it but I think I looked pretty.  :)

We brought 3 and a half suitcases of decorations and Kerry took over and made my image a reality.  AMAZING!

Our butler Titanya was so so so awesome.  I loved her.  She really is a wonderful person.

We used MDC transportation for everyone and took care of it since we were doing the all inclusive package.

The Chicago office was also great.

The staff couldn't have been more awesome.  My inlaws and parents are already planning a family reunion for next year.

Please let me know if you have any questions about particulars.  I'm not very good at writing reviews (in fact, I NEVER do) but this really blew me away. I have no regrets and would have done it exactly the same if I were to do it all over again.  I think EVERYONE should get married there.  It was a wedding to remember and ALL of our guests agreed!

Congrats and it sounds like you truly had an amazing time.  I would love to see pics of your hair/makeup and flowers, well love to see pics of your wedding...LOL.  I'm getting married at Moon Dance Villas next year so I'm excited to know everything.

    Hi Ladies,

This thread has helped me so much. Im planning my wedding at villa sur mer for summer 2014. I have just sent out quote inquiries to a ton of wedding coordinators. Im more of a DIY girl but this seems rather hard when me and Jamaica are many miles away. I want to see how much itll cost and then decide what I can or cant do on my own. Im very interested in New Levels Decor, there style seems amazing and they also say they do everything wedding planning. So I hope it works out.

I've seen New Levels Decor work on FB and it's beautiful!  Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Hi everyone. I am getting married April 6, 2013. I have been working with Nina who has been incredible. We have 25 guests and are doing the tropical wedding. I have added all the extras, violinist, steel drums for cocktail hour, three hour reception with dj, flowers and lights everywhere. We have opted not to do the included rehearsal dinner because everyone has to eat the same food (just like the reception dinner). We are paying extra for open bar, hair and makeup for me and the girls, videographer, photographer, guest bag delivery. Fingers crossed that everything will go well. I spent 3 months planning a wedding at Sancutuary Cap Cana without any attention from the coordinator so we cancelled and moved it to Sandals. I can say that it has been a 1000% improvement. I just checked the thread for that resort and found that one poor bride was just told her wedding was cancelled 3 months before due to overbooking!!! I will try to remember to come back and post our results. Good luck to everyone. Let me know if you have any specific questions. [email protected]

OMG I would be overwhelmed if I were that Bride, that is insane...smh!

Once it comes in, I'll be sure to post photos! Can't beat the under $40 mark, so hopefully it's everything we hoped for. It comes with optional straps also! and it's one of my wedding colors!

Not bad for the price.  Hope it works.

  5. Love these pics, just remember you will be in Jamaica, so you may want to do a loose curl or slightly loose so this way the humidty does not ruin your look.  I just started getting weaves 2 yrs ago and get them 1 - 2 times a year and I truly enjoy them ... a few days before your wedding how exciting.

These are the pics I currently like. I normally have shoulder length hair but I just got extensions for the first time ever this past weekend. Still getting used to it, but I like it! The hair now comes to bust length so I can do a lot more with it. I have a pretty huge head so I'm not even considering having my hair all up. Just down or half up.

The two makeup looks I keep coming back to are very similar. Dramatic smoky eyes and neutral everywhere else, finished with a pale pink lip. I know this is probably too much for daytime on the beach though but I can't help it!

    Hi Cherina,

No I'm not working with an agent but if you could inbox me or email that would be great.  It's so confusing because I live in Baltimore which has non stop flights to Jamaica, and Barbados does not.  Argh decisions ...

  7. Your ring is 2die4 beautiful!!!

He proposed with a "stand-in" ring until I picked out and received my dream yellow diamond ring.  The ring arrived on December 29, 2011.

Engagement Party:  My girlfriends threw Matthew and I an engagement party at the White House bowling alley on November 12, 2011.

Wedding Planning:  In late 2011, we finally decided that we wanted to get married abroad.  After much thought on the location, it finally came down to Jamaica or the Dominican Republic.  In order to have the "best of both worlds," I booked Matthew's birthday in the DR (for April 2012) and we booked a wedding in Jamaica (for May 2013).

The resort: After reading through a lot of threads, putting in a deposit and shortly thereafter getting back a deposit for Grand Palladium, and finally discussing with our family friend who is now our travel coordinator, we decided on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites.  I have heard only great things about the resort.  Here are some reasons we chose this resort: great reviews, one wedding a day, good communication with the resort, reasonably priced weddings, lazy river, my colleague who just stayed there said the food was great, and our TA highly recommends this resort.

The date:  Saturday, May 4, 2013

Wedding photographer:  I contacted a few photographers who do weddings in Jamaica and finally decided on Sandy May.  She has great prices, I love the photos and reviews, she communicates well, and she seems to dedicate time to the couple and their photos (she only takes 3-4 weddings a month).  I also love the fact that she is a Minnesotan (which I am).  She lives in Jamaica during winter time.  She confirmed for our original date - April 6, 2013 - we are waiting to hear back if she will do our May wedding instead...

Wedding officiant:  We are Jewish so I really wanted a Jewish ceremony.  Thank goodness for Stephen Henriques.  He is a leader of the Jewish community in Jamaica and does weddings.  He is even mentioned in the book "A Travel Guide to the Jewish Caribbean and Latin America."  He said he would do our wedding.

Save The Dates:  We ordered our Save the Dates through SaveTheDateMagnet.com (New and Blue Enterprises, Inc.).  I will post pictures when I have the actual Save the Dates in a couple weeks.

Travel Coordinator:  Our friend Ellen Paderson from Smiles and Miles Travel, Inc. is coordinating everyone's travel.  She is great to work with.  I highly recommend her.

I will post more when I have more information.  In the meantime, you can stay up to date on my planning by checking out http://CourtneyMara.com/Wedding!

    Happy planning!

    Courtney
