  1. I know what you mean Darlene! I have sent Yessica a couple of emails to confirm dinner reservations, info on steaming my dress and a contact for a car service to take us to Altos de Chavon for our portraits and not a single response yet except that my meeting is with them on Friday morning at the resort. Thank goodness for all of the positive feedback, otherwise, there might be some ugly emails and possible yelling...LOL
  2. I can't believe we are leaving Thursday for PPR! Our guests arrive Friday and our wedding is on Sunday...so surreal. We are treating our guests to a private catamaran on Saturday, so hopefully the weather will cooperate with all of our plans 😠If you are planning to take favors down there, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to pack...this 50 lb. limit per bag is really cramping my packing plan. I'll keep you guys posted. Thank you to all that have shared tips along the way, it really has helped me out!
  3. To all the brides that just got back... I'm having my wedding in the garden and they keep telling me that it's going to be too windy for candles. Did you feel that was the case with your wedding? We were planning to light some candles as part of our ceremony and I'm starting to freak out and wondering if I need an alternative plan. Our ceremony is going to be 6pm. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for sharing the feedback ladies! 2 weeks to go and I still have things finalize so knowing I'm in good hands at the resort will help me sleep at night
  5. Send me your email and I will forward you their packages. They are in Canada so you have to pay travel costs. However the lodging is cheaper than the $1000 outside vendor fee but the airfare will get you since it is expensive from Canada to the DR. This was by far the biggest portion of my budget but worth it since.
  6. Katya is great, we almost went with her but ended up using the photographer that shot her wedding. It was just a matter of style vs quality. If our photographer wasn't available, we would have definitely gone with her. Check out her blog for her style.
  7. Hi Missy! Happy to hear everything turned out so wonderful for you! With less than a month underway, I'm starting to freak out a bit. How was the hair and makeup? Did you feel they did a great job? Also, you mentioned that you ventured off the resort a few times...did you have to book a taxi/car service in advance or did you guys rent a car? We are thinking about doing some photos outside the resort and just trying to figure this out. Would love to see pics from the resort if you have any to share. Thanks!
  8. So how is everyone feeling about their hair and makeup? Are you guys confident the stylists at the spa will do a good job? I'm particularly worried about the makeup because it will be hot and we will likely be shooting all day and then our ceremony doesn't start till 5PM.
  9. Did anyone not hire a DJ and just used the iPod music station? Some of our friends are telling us they can't make it now and now our guest count is 22 and 4 of them are our parents. Given this update, not sure if it's worth having a DJ and would rather spend money on entertaining the guests, like the fire entertainment.
  10. Yeah, Katya is awesome, she was going to be Cole's second shooter but will not be there so he had to find someone else. I would have had my top two choices, getting the best of both worlds...too bad it's not going to happen. Oh we'll, Cole is amazing and he literally travels around the world for weddings. Some life - I'm so jealous. Do either of those locations have cliffs? I really want a landscape shot. We might end up going to the same place he shot Katya for her wedding. He's going to work on a plan and let me know in case I need to book a car or something.
  11. I had a good call with Bianca today and she sent me some helpful photos of the garden. I didn't like the gazebo, but like you I wanted to wear my heels. Also, I didn't like how the bride entered when using the gazebo. However, we can have a canopy setup in the garden, which makes me so happy since I think it so much more romantic because the gazebo was too high. I also have better photos of Olympic Terrace if anyone is interested. Is anyone planning to do a photo shoot outside of the resort? If so, where and how were you planning to get there? My photographer is from Canada, but is friends with Katya (he shot her wedding) so he can ask for places, but I have no idea how we'll get there. I have a meeting with Lara next week, any tips to keep costs down? Also, anyone upgrading their cake? Bianca doesn't recommend cakes/flavors that are US because DR chefs have a different palate so it will taste different, so bummed because I was looking forward to an amazing cake.
  12. Hi Ladies! Thank you for sharing all of your information! I have my planning call tomorrow and I'm starting to freak out - 3 months until our wedding! If anyone has finished pictures of their wedding, please email me at [email protected]. I've seen pictures here and there, but I'm just having a hard time envisioning some of it. We're having our ceremony at the garden gazebo and I haven't seen many pictures of it decorated to my style, so I'm rethinking if we should change locations. A few of you have recommended Theresa, the wedding planner - what is her fee? Thanks in advance! - Rotha
