  1. Also....does anyone else think it's highway robbery that they charge you a supplemental fee as part of the package if you have more than 30 ppl, AND THEN want to charge $1700 or $2500 to close out a private venue?  Isn't that double-charging?  What is the point of paying a supplemental fee if we're paying for a private venue?  Don't both supplemental and private venue cost cover the same thing??  It's also crap that if you have more than 30-40 ppl then they basically force you to have a private venue...which means they're basically forcing you to pay $1700 or $2500.  How does that make sense too?  Getting super frustrated with this place.  Not sure if anyone else is having the same headaches?

  2. Hi if you send me your email address I can send you some pics that i received of the piscis.  It is a covered outdoor area right by the beach.  They do decorate it with mini lights on the trees but you can add lanterns etc if you want to add some colour.  It's a beautiful setting as I was there on vacation just this April.  You will get beautiful sunset shots.  It is quite informal, but  the view to me is what made me choose it for my reception.  Also it's private, away from most things.  There is a bar there too.  If your looking for more formal then I would suggest the Italian restaurant which is right next door.  I have pics of that too.  The Italian restaurant is indoors, they have a little section off to the side which they reserve for weddings etc.  It's away from the main resort guests.  If you don't want to pay for the Piscis, but still want that private feeling then this would be the way to go.  The steakhouse is not private at all......i did not like that.....however I liked the food there.  If you rent the Piscis, yu can choose your menu from any of the restaurants.  Hope this helps.   Barb
Hi Barb Wondering if you could pls post or email photos of the Dolce ([email protected]). Even tho it's indoors can you still see the water / sunset? Also, how small of a section is it inside for weddings? Do you think its at least big enough to seat 60 ppl? What about dancing afterward? Thanks in advance for any more insight you can share + photos!
  3. I just found in the Wedding Information sheet that was sent to me by Stephany in Mar 2013.  It says you can have up to 70 guests at the restaurant in a semi-private setting... To rent the Dolce Vita for a private dinner it is $2500, Piscis is $1700.
Hi! Do you know if the Dolce Vita cost is only if you dont go with one of their wedding packages? Or is above and beyond? I think it is BS if they try charging 2500$ for the Dolce on top of a 3000$ wedding package! ....
  4. Hey Hey! I'm scheduled for a 4pm ceremony, dinner at the Dolce Vita and the gazebo with DJ in the evening. So exciting! Maybe we'll see you there. I have had some difficulty back and forth with the WC's. I plan on calling mid-October to try and figure some things out, while still giving myself time to change some things if I need to (like the way I bring my music for example.) My grandma is a seamstress, so she's bringing a travel steamer for me. I've heard other brides say they are/or have steamed up their bathrooms with their dress in it, and it usually does the trick. Or, buy a steamer? :)
Hi There We've reserved the Dolce Vita too! Wondering if you mind sharing how much they've quoted you. We are going with the 3000$ romance extravaganza package but they are trying to upcharge us another 2500$ for the Dolce Vita which I find to be ridiculous. Hoping you can share. Thanks!

    Hi There,

Can't seem to download your attachments.  Can you pls upload a screen grab perhaps?

  6. Hi There,

Wondering if you might have Romance Extravaganza on hand that you could pls upload or email?  Cant seem to find my copy and Vinette is a pain to get a hold of.  Need to see what is included again.  We changed our venue from Pisces to Dolce Vita and they're now trying to tell me it's an extra $2500!!!!  Isn't a private venue included in the Romance package along with DJ, drinks, drums, etc.??

    Much appreciated!

  7. Question for the ladies who have had their wedding already! Which cake flavour did you get, and would you choose it again? We cant decide between chocolate, vanilla or coconut! Also, for anyone who rented the gazebo or poolside after dinner, and chose NOT to have a DJ, what was provided, if anything, for you to play music on? Was there a fee? Thanks in advance! Sarah
I'm actually not too keen on either of their wedding cakes so I'm having an off-site caterer bring a cake to the resort for about $200
  8. Has anyone been having any difficulty with the wedding planners at the resort regarding some of what they claim to offer in the package vs. what is actually being offered?!

For instance, the newest Romance Extravaganza states "live music during the ceremony".  When I spoke to Vivette about wanting a sax player she said that is HAS to be the steel band.  Nowhere in writing does it say, 'steel band', so I dont know why all of a sudden I have to pay extra to have a sax player when the package simply states "live music".

Soooo frustrating!!  Anyone else having this problem?????

Also, I really wanted to do something different with the menu vs. eating the same thing that my guests will be eating all week.  So I wanted to bring in an Indian caterer (my favourite food!).  The resort is not allowing me to bring in an Indian catered because "I'm not Indian"!!?!?!.  I couldn't believe it.  VERY prejudiced.  She has never seen me nor my fiancee and doesnt know what kind of guests I'll be bringing.  Where do they get off telling me that I'm not Indian so I can't have Indian food delivered?!  I can, however, have a different cake from an outside bakery delivered.  WTF?!

Becoming very frustrated with them telling me what I can and can't do for my special day.

    (sorry, had to vent!)

Amazing!! Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what the additional packages were, and if they gave you print outs or a CD. That's GREAT!

Chris Lee has such great reviews I would like him to, but not sure who I would book with with... contact him directly, or go through the WC at the resort.

Get him on Facebook - that's what I did.  He responds right away.

OH - and for the 2014 brides, he has mentioned to me that he may be venturing off to run his own photography business next year in which case we would be charged the stupid $800 vendor fee to bring him to the resort.  Fingers crossed he stays with the resort so we get him for free!!

thanks for clarifying.  makes me nervous to not know my flowers ahead of time and to wait until i get there to browse the catalogue :)  but, i'll take your word for it.  thanks!

too funny!  i wanted to stay away from standard nautical or beach colors :)

interesting that you're bringing yours from home.  are they real flowers?  how will you keep them fresh?  i'd like to do the same, just not sure how to go about it...

  12. your photos are beautiful and your dress is gorgeous!! and the same minister that married us! I haven't seen anyone different yet so he must be the one that does all the  GBPJ weddings. he's wonderful and an absolutely lovely man!
Hi there - wondering how you brought your own flowers? Were they fake? ( not meaning to sound rude).. I've considered it but not sure how that would work exactly...
  13. I had hair and makeup done at the spa and I was just fine with it. I had the trial the day before as well. I had every intention of having my hair down but it was so hot I opted at the last minute for it to be up. they use this terrific spray that they call cement so your hair will stay in place. I found the price was reasonable. the only thing I would do differently, and you only have to ask them, is not have quite so much eyeliner. I don't normally wear it and I found with the heat by the end of the day it started to get droopy. to do it over I wouldn't wear any at all. but just make sure and tell whoever does your hair and makeup. they were very cooperative and easy to get along with.
Thanks. Does the resort spa use airbrush make up? And do they touch up during the day for you? What is an average price for resort spa hair/make up? Thanks!
