  1. REDUCED PRICE: Size 1 (street clothes size 2) Lace Wedding Dress

I'm located in Edmonton and I'm looking to sell my wedding dress for $400 that I bought at Ethos in Edmonton for $900. This dress is a simple, but beautiful lace zip up gown that has empire waist beading, and a satin bow in the back. The dress is ivory and has the ivory satin bow at the back. It has a sweetheart neckline and a small train. The dress is made of Alencon lace and is fully lined, with boning in the bodice. I am 5'1 and 105lbs, and the dress was tailored for me so I could wear 1 inch sandals. The dress was originally a size 1 and was taken in a bit, but the dress looks as if it could be let out slightly as well. I am about a B cup and wore a simple strapless bra underneath.

The dress was so comfortable and light for our destination wedding, but it's elegant enough to wear for a fancier wedding in the winter. The dress is able to be busselled, and was perfect for dancing. The dress is simple, but I still felt like a princess on my wedding day. This is the perfect dress for a petite bride who doesn't want to be overwhelmed by a dress with tons of fabric!

Thanks!

On the back of the keycard holders I made, I wrote everyone's room number, which was super helpful!! We just called eachother and planned to meet at a particular time, left a message if they didn't pick up. I've heard of people using walkie-talkies, which would have been a great idea! It definitely was challenging, because the resort is really big, but we definitely developed a bit of a routine and the 'usual' places that we would hang out.

They will let you have ONE group dinner booked through the travel agent that does not cost anything. We made sure to tip the waitstaff, but we had a set menu at the Caribbean restaurant for 26 people that did not cost us anything more than that. We didn't do a welcome dinner, we just went to one of the buffets early and had a group of a few tables (they are really close to eachother). We used our one group dinner reservation for a rehearsal dinner instead!

Can someone tell me if there is a place in or close by the Palace Resort to buy sparklers, maracas, mini tequila bottles and a pinata?

    Thanks!

Playa del Carmen is about 20 mins away and I'm SURE you could buy all those things there. So many little shops on 5th avenue. I know for sure we saw maracas, mini tequila bottles and I'm confident you could find pinatas and sparklers :) We took the shuttle there for 3 dollars each way and you just walk to the entrance of the hotel on the road and wait for the vans to stop and pick you up. Very easy!

I sent out save the dates a couple of months ago, and mostly those who have booked already are those who will come, but I still need to send our formal invites. I was thinking of sending them end of Oct (wedding date is april 23) but I don't know when I should tell them to RSVP by.

    Thanks!!

I think Victoria told me to confirm 2-3 weeks before....remember, they are REALLY laid back down there. Last minute changes don't phase them! I sent invites out in September and asked that people RSVP by January, because that's when our travel agent needed the final payment. Once I had the final payment list from the travel agent, I sent that to the WC. She really didn't seem concerned about actual numbers until about 2 weeks before we arrived.

Gorgeous dress, I wish I was a size 1!!! I actually bought my dress from preownedweddingdresses.com, have you thought about listing on there?

Thanks! Keep in mind, I'm 5'1, so it's appropriate that I'm a size 1 :) I had to hem the dress SO MUCH lol! I hadn't thought of that...good idea!!

  7. Edmonton brides! I'm selling my wedding dress. I would love to hang onto it, but I would rather someone else get the joy of wearing it instead :)

Looking to sell my wedding dress for $500 OBO that I bought at Ethos in Edmonton for $850, plus $350 in alterations. It's a very simple, but beautiful lace zip up gown that has empire waist beading, and a satin bow in the back. I am 5'1 and 105lbs, and the dress was tailored for me so I could wear 1 inch sandals. The dress was originally a size 1and was taken in a bit, but it looks like it could be let out a few inches (seamstress left some fabric inside the dress) as well. It was so comfortable and light for our summer wedding in Mexico, but it's elegant enough to wear for a fancier wedding in the winter. We got married on July 6th, 2013 and I would really like to sell the dress to make some money for grad school in the fall :) Please text/call/email 780-239-3930 or [email protected] for more photos or to ask questions.

I am in the early stages of panning and am waiting for my destination travel specialist to get back to me with the next steps. I have a few questions for anyone willing to take the time to answer....

Has anyone upgraded the mint breeze package to move the reception to the beach? I really want to have both the ceremony and reception on the beach. I was looking at the sunset package, but since we are expecting 40+ people to attend, the extra charge p/p after the first 15 people is a little high.

Are there any prefered beach locations that are recommended for the ceremony?

What kind of flowers come with the mint package? My vision for the wedding is mostly white and/or creams with s few pops of colour for the bridesmaids dresses. It they are tropical flowers, can I have them changed to all white, or does that require an extra charge?

What kind of music is included in the package? Do they play for the ceremony and reception?

Can I sub the cake or photographer and save the money (we have a photographer friend hopefukly coming down) or do we get charged even if we dont want them? How are the photographers at the resort if we do end up using them?

Has anyone chartered a boat for their group? My fiancé wants to rent a boat for everyone as a thank you for them coming...

Thank you all so much! Any information is greatly appreciated. I really don't know what to do next :)

I can't tell you about upgrading the Mint Breeze to the beach because we decided to do it inside. It's going to be pretty hot in July and I'm thinking grandparents etc who aren't used to the heat are going to need some time in the AC after being outside for the ceremony.

As for flowers, the wedding coordinator told me that they can literally do anything you want, it will just be priced according to availability. Check out the photos on this thread (right hand side, recent images in this thread) and you will see from the pics that people have a wide range of flowers. I can email you what the WC sent me so you can see what they offer...she said also if I didn't like those, just pick other colors/flowers and send pics. Private message me your email address!

As for music, the mint breeze includes either a violin, flute or guitar (I think...?) for the ceremony, but this doesn't extend to the reception, although you can definitely rent any kind of music you want for that portion of the wedding. We are going with the ipod...just made a playlist and are going to plug it in during the reception (this option is free for the speakers etc).

I don't think you can substitute things for the cake...it's just a part of the package. As for photographers, they recommend their photographers because they have a contract with them, but you have to purchase packages from the company, it's not included! We are hiring a different photographer as well, so we paid for her room instead of paying the $500 vendors fee.

Hope that was helpful! Sorry I couldn't answer more!

Has anyone heard if you get 25 rooms booked, the 26th is free?  I think I have seen some people talk a bit about this. Does anyone know if this is a discount from BARCELO or is this set with through your travel agent? I have some people booking online for the wedding and others are going through our travel agent. Our travel says we only get the discount if we book through HER and not with BARCELO direct.  Does anyone know?

We got a deal through our travel agent. I don't know if you get any sort of deal through the resort itself. For us, we booked at Carlson Waglit with Angie in Edmonton, and she said if we booked 16 guests, one of us got to stay for free (we still paid for some part of it, I just can't remember which). It ended up saving us about $1500! We only have 25 guests coming, so we didn't get the 'book 32 guests, get bride and groom free,' which would have been nice!! Oh well, it was awesome to get one free! Definitely shop around. Air Canada Vacations seems to have some big discounts for booking during particular parts of the year, and for bringing a certain number of people :)

Hey girl! I have Claudia as WC...she usually takes about a week to get back to me, but I'm ok with that, since we've still got quite a bit of time and I'm sure we'll figure most stuff out when we get down here. I'll try my best to answer your questions if I can.

Are the tables rectangular or circular, and the sizes of the tables?

It depends on where your reception is. We're having ours in one of the banquet rooms. We can do a long rectangular table for 30 people or less, or round tables that seat 8 each. Here's a couple of pics she sent me:

    Long table.JPG

    Round ta bles.JPG

    -           How many to a table?

    See above :)

    -          As far as time line, what would you suggest (our wedding is at 1)

Here is my schedule (my ceremony is at 4). You can do something like this, or change it up. It's your wedding! Do what makes YOU happy! :)

    Wedding ceremony at 4 pm.

Ceremony ends at 4:30 to 4:45

Pictures taken until 5:30 to 6 pm.

Reception starts at 6. Guests drink cocktails.

    Dinner served at 6:30

First dance at 7:15 to 7:30

    Dancing, etc until 8:30

    Cut cake at 8:30

Reception ends at 9 (move on to disco for further dancing)

    -          Is the cocktail hour cost additional? And is it per person?

Cocktail hour is an additional cost. I'm not doing one, because we're going to have an open bar at our reception, so I can't help you out with the cost there. I'm sure someone else will jump in.

    -          What color are the linens? Is there an option to change the linen colors

I believe white linens are included in the package price that you choose. I'm not sure if they offer other options, but I'm sure any other colors will have an additional cost. We're going to just stick with white. I'm not even doing centerpieces...I'm super laid back (aka LAZY!)

Any other questions?? Hopefully this helped!

What is this room called? Has anyone had their reception here???

What's not to trust!? Tampons are brutal and pads are worse lol. http://lunapads.com/diva-cup.html check out the website. I bought mine years ago and would NEVER go back. There are hundreds of reviews on the divacup website. Seriously the best thing I have ever done :)

Okay, thanks. I feel like sometimes communicating via email doesn't quite convey what the WC is wanting to say!! It just seemed like she was really nonchalant about it, and I was thinking, ummmm this is sort of a life or death situation with some of my guests!!! How did your guests fare on a daily basis at restaurants and the buffet??

Hey! Did you ever end up ordering those sunglasses? What are they like? Did you pay duty? How long did they take to ship? I'm running out of time till the wedding but if they only take a few weeks I might order them! :)
