  1. Thanks for the feedback. We are starting to look at maybe a cruise as an option... Do any of you have a travel agent to recommend? I can see I am not going to be able to do this alone.
  2. Hello there. I am leaning towards a cruise wedding (for cost reasons) but Im not a experienced "cruiser". I have tried to gather as much info as I can on other posts but I still have some questions. I have not decided a cruise line or destination even have a set date....hhahahhaha I figure it will come together. I know I want a short trip maybe 5-6 days and I want the ceremony on an island. 1. Do I plan through the cruise planner or find a location on the island on my own? Also, It is my understanding that when you cruise you eat as a group in the formal dining room, right? 2.So should I plan a on-island reception or just a cocktail hour on the boat followed by our regular evening dinner? 3.Are you able to book time on the boats for first dances??? What I really want is just a nice beach ceremony (hopefully hurricaine season doesnt put a damper on that), a few apps and cocktails. maybe a cake and a dance with my hubby and dad AND a relaxing time with family and friends....is that too much to ask?!?!?!
  3. Hi! So my last post introduced myself...I am Kim. My FI, Jason and I decided to get married and FAST. after years and years together we are going to make it happen this summer. I have been looking at a bunch of ideas...originally I really, really wanted Aruba but I need to think about what is more affordable convenient for my family. I'm thinking a cruise wedding is the most low-key affordable option for us. However it seems more stressful. I cant find a lot of info. We will pick the destination and ship based on whats available since it is last minute. I have always wanted a beach wedding so I would like it to be at one of the ports. My questions are... What if the boat gets held up and doesn't make it to port on time or at all? What if there is bad weather? Can you still take OOT bags on board? Is it better to go with an Island WC or should I plan it though the ship staff? How can I avoid my FI seeing me until I walk down the island? I have read nothing but negative things about a cruise wedding...does anything have any words of encouragement or good stories about theirs? Thanks!!!
  4. thank you so much for the reply. any advice on finding a travel agent? -Kimberly
  5. Sounds crazy, right? Ive never been one to dream of a big wedding and if it were up to me id just elope...but my father would kill me and being daddys little (only) girl I want to give him this day. In fact he is the reason we are getting married and so fast. My FI and I have been a couple for 8 years. We live together and have always known we would one day tie the knot but decided to travel the world first. My fathers health has been on a decline and my FI and I decided its time to give him his chance to see me down the isle and soon after a grandbaby (his first) We have no idea how much this is going to cost but we feel like it would be cheaper to go away...honestly bc it would be huge id we had it at home and we realize only a third of the people will come if its a destination wedding. (Sounds awful, I know) Starting from scratch I have questions.. 1. Can it be done in such a short time? 2. Is 10-15k a reasonable budget for at least 30-45 guest? Plus my and his travel drom DC. 3. Recomendations on a location? 4. Extra adice?
  6. Hi!!! Im so excited to be here and able to chat with all of you and share our info. I have never been one to want a big wedding...I would be happy with going away, just the two of us but my family isnt liking that idea. with that said we would like to throw together a destination wedding this summer...oh the stress!!! It has to be soon bc my father isnt doing well health wise and I would like to get pregnant this fall and give him some grandbabies. =) (daddys only girl) We have no date set, no idea of a budget and no location in mind. yikes we both LOVE aruba and it was our first vacation spot together so that is an option. We can keep our guest list to 30-40 for the sake of saving money but depending on cost we have about 80 that im sure would be willing to come to all end of the earth if invited. I know it is very last minute, almost rude to send out invite with such little notice but we plan to have a cocktail reception when we get back for those that cant make it. Our realistic budget is $10-15K. My questions for you are... 1. where do you recommend going? 2. is this a realistic budget? 3. Can i get this alllllll done by this summer? T minus 4-6 months 4. how do you think i should word the invitiation and do i send an invite to EVERYONE assuming only some will come? 5. words of advice thanks guys
