  1. Hello Brides. I know that the planning stages can be frustrating but have no fear everything will be great. I celebrated my wedding on July 9th in Paradisus Palma Real and worked with Massiel and Mariela. All I can say that everything was absolutely AMAZING!! The girls and their staff were super attentive, professional and accommodating. The girls were always available and quick to address any concerns I had. 137 friends and family members traveled to Punta Cana for the event and they were all more than satisfied with the ceremony and reception. Our party was so good that we extended it an extra hour. Due to the storm we were unable to have our "Welcome" Party on the beach but Massiel assured me that they could work something out for us. They decorated the event space outside of the Apollo Hall beautifully. You would never think it was a hallway. We were able to enjoy the outside breeze but still have cover in case it rained. The reception was awesome!!! The decorating company was able to make my vision a reality. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The waiters at the reception were a hit! My family was so amazed at how attentive they were and they made sure to keep the drinks coming. I cannot tell you anything about there DJ company because I flew my DJ and MC in form NY. The food was good and the cake was delicious. My husband and I loved our wedding so much that we would do it all again! Believe me when I tell you that the most difficult part is making it to the date. After you reach Punta Cana you will have no worries. They will take care of everything! It is all worth it!
  2. Congratulations to those who recently got married! I really appreciate you taking out the time to update us. It means a lot to all of us. The anxiety lessens as see pictures and hear about your great experiences. Again, thank you. I wish you the very best!!
  3. Hello Nena. Dreams was also in my top 3 but when we went to visit the hotel last August to meet with their wedding planning we had the chance of speaking to a few guests. Guests were being transferred to another hotel because they had overbooked. The hotel gets booked fairly quickly because its so close to the airport. My fiance and I didn't want to take that risk of having our guests seperated. My fiance also thought the rooms at the Paradisus PR were nicer. We did get to see a wedding while we were there and they did a really nice job.
  4. Hello girls. It seems wedding dates are quickly approaching for all of us. I am getting married by church on July 6th in NY and heading to Punta Cana the next day for my reception on July 9th. So Ev we might bump into each other. We decided to have an "all white" welcome party at the beach the day before the reception. I hope to have a Dinner at one of the restaurants for the bridal party the day we arrive. Having just the bridal party at the restaurant will be more intimate and gives the bridal party a chance to bond and get to know each other. I share in your frustrations of an added fee for everything. I shared this with Lara but unfortunately it is what it is. I have my planning call this Friday (had to push it back a few days because of my work schedule). Has anyone gotten any reviews on the new DJ company? Recommendations on specific DJ or MC would be greatly appreciated. I think music is a very important factor in having a great party. Is anyone doing one of the spa packages with their bridal party? I thought it would be nice to have a quiet time with my girls but the expenses keep adding up. I'm stuck! Anyideas for bridal party gifts? i have been a bridesmaids more times than I can count and I want to make sure that I get my girls something that they will actually use, it has to be nice but doesn't break my pocket. Any suggestions? I am thinking of using wine corks as my escort card holders ( my sister and I have had enough wine this year, I think I will have enough). I am still not sure if I should make fans with the program print on them. I thought it would be nice that it serves dual purpose. I am a little nervous about my dress as well but I bought it and I am wearing it. I am going to wing it and not do a hair trial. Worse case scenario I will have my sis redo it. I visited the hotel this past August. I had the chance to see the Spa's bridal suite. I really liked it. It was big enough and perfect for pics. I also liked the idea of not having everyone in my room and all the mess being left behind. I am still deciding if I should extend the party an extra hour. I feel like its the least I can do for the guests after all they are spending to travel to DR but you have to take into consideration that everything will be extra: open bar, DJ, MC. And I am not loving that part of it. Crazy hour? Do you think it's worth it? Will check in soon.
  5. My invites are in and my planning call is scheduled for April 16th. Any suggestions? Has anyone been able to meet the new DJ company or attended a party that they worked? It's been my only real concern since this whole DJ change-up.
  6. Hello girls. I am new to this blog. It is great to hear everyone's comments and concerns. I was truly lost in this whole wedding destination planning. It feels good to have a support group and someone who knows exactly what you are experiencing. It's also nice to be able to get suggestions and recommendations from all of you. I am getting married July 2013... It's fast approaching. I have shared in all your frustrations with guests and self doubts but I do have to say that my experience with the Miami office has been great. I have been working with Jessica. Erica, I am really concerned about the DJ now. Thank you for that piece of information. I was really looking forward to DJ Mania after all the great reviews. Please keep us posted on your girlfriends reviews of the new DJ company. My wedding has gotten a lil crazy. I have. Very large family and thought that having a destination wedding would limit some of the cost...boy was I fooled! Overall I am happy that I chose PPR because of their great reputation. My travel Agent assured me it was a great choice. My travel agent is located in Brooklyn, NY if anyone is interested. I am having a welcome party in the beach the day before and having my ceremony on the beach, cocktail hour in Colonial and the reception in one of the Apollo rooms. Just want to say thank you girls for all your posts. Keep them coming. We will get through this together. I will do the same.
