As things are getting closer I was wondering about tips!

What did you tip your wedding coordinator, officiant, bar staff at your pool side reception and wait staff at the restaurant for your wedding. 

We have about 50 people coming and we want to make sure we are being fair to the staff.

Hey everyone!  I realized I am getting married in 40 days and I am so excited!  

I have a few questions I am hoping someone knows the answer to.

Does anyone know what brand of makeup they use at the spa?  

Can I rent the draped fabric when I get there for the Akumal beach location?

Do they have table numbers there or do I need to bring my own?

There are about 50 of us attending and I am worried we will have trouble getting the party started for our pool side reception does anyone have any ideas to ensure everyone is engaged?

This thread is exactly what I need!  I went in to try on my wedding dress and it is a little too tight in the hips/butt/tummy.   I cried when I put it on as it bunches a little bit.  After trying it on again it stretched out and the girl explained that my hips/but was more of a 12 than a 10 which is the size my dress is.  So needless to say I need to lose 5-10lbs in 2 months which is when I need to decide if I want to alter or not.   So I am cutting out the booze and deserts and ramping up the veggies and lean proteins.   

I have never really tried to lose weight before I hope this is doable!

Yes your wedding meal is one from Bride & Grooms A La Carte Restaurants - from the UK staying for 2 weeks you get a total of 8 A La Cartes, you also use another for your Romantic Meal for 2 on a night and restaurant of your choice. 

 

There were 21 of us and we had 2 tables to the back of the restaurant and had our speaches before the meal - there was only 1 other table in the restaurant at the time (630pm meal)

 

Will post full review later with a few photos, we used Arrecife and could not fault them in any way and even went ahead with DVD too.

Thanks for the support you guys made me feel a lot better about the situation. I am back to feeling like just as long as my fiancé and my dress make it to Mexico I am fine!

I feel a little bit like I am bad at being a bride. My fiancé and I filled out all the forms the resort gave us and I bought my dress and I am not motivated to do much else. I am worried that it won't feel like a wedding if I don't do extra stuff like make decorations and such. Do I really need to do that stuff? Is it still going to be very weddingy if I just show up in Mexico with my dress and my vows? I just want to make sure I am doing what I need to make my day special any input is appreciated.

I am getting Married there in november too and have had a bit better luck with Maria.  You can always try to forwar you email and ask for a response from [email protected].  That is the director of groups and events email.  I got a response a bit more quickly.  I understand that they are busy but 2 months is way to long for you to wait.   My wedding is in november and I got a few emails from Maria answering the questions I need so I can start planning. Hope this works for you!

My finance finally got his suit.  He is keeping it a secret from me just like I am with my dress. lol

But I do have a little bit of details he ended up getting a tan/sand colored hugo boss suite.  He will be wearing it with flip flops, a white shirt and no tie.  He bought it during an invite only sale and I think it came to $750 including alterations.  He is super excited and can wear it after the wedding to work. I am letting the groom do his own thing for him and his groomsmen.  I think they will likely do white shirts and tan pants.  He also has a groomslady and I think she might do a tan dress or tan capris and a white shirt.

The groom will likely wear a light colored Hugo Boss suit.  Boss has tons of nice stuff for destination weddings but it is a bit pricey.  They can give you a ton of ideas for what is in this season for mens destination wedding wear.

My poolside reception will be an additional cost.  I am having karaoke so with that and drinks, tables, ect it will be $1575 for the 3 hour poolside reception for 55ppl.  I did not go with the unforgettable package I have gone with Symbolic Rember package which is $1275. 

I may also get some additional flowers so in total the wedding and reception will cost me around $3,000.

Gran Bahia Principe has been very cost effective for us as we have 55 people attending and all inclusive packages out of Edmonton, Regina, Vancouver, Calgary and Kelowna with westjet were under $1300pp for 7 day and under $1500 pp for 10 day.  My FI and myself go for free.

My total wedding budget is $12,000 and that includes dress, wedding bands, flowers, gifts for bridesmaids/groomsmen, suits, ect.  I think we will end up being a little bit under budget depending if my FI buys a Boss suit or not.

Hey, I am having the same issue with Maria.  She advised me that right now is her busiest time for weddings and not to worry she will get all my stuff done but I am not priority right now.  She said I may need to wait a while for a response (it took over a month for my last email).  She advised when it gets closer to my date she will respond more quickly.  I am just relaxing now that I know and compiling a list of all my questions/needs for the wedding.

Hello fellow Canadian Ladies! My name is Katie and I wanted to jump in here to introduce myself! I just got engaged on April 6th (yipee!) but we are heading forward full speed ahead to plan our wedding for sometime between march-may of 2014!!!! Our TA is a good friend of ours who has planned other DWs and planned her own ccruise wedding which we attended last year. I love the recent discussion about pinata and karaoke! We are still trying to decide on a place that will hold our 35-45 guests and somewhere that will not overload us with extra pricing when it comes to dinner in a semi-private area. Playa del carmen is increasingly becoming our location I think, but we'll see! Happy planning ladies!

I have always wanted to have karoke at my reception and my resort and fiance are letting me have it!!  I am super excited... People seem surprised when I tell them that is what we are doing.  Is it weird to do karoke at a wedding?  We will have ipods and playlists too if people need a break from the singing.

OMG The resort and my fiance are letting me have karoke at the pool side reception!!! SOOOO EXCITED!!!
