  1. I do not know about the TTD but have visited @4 cenotes. Your photographer would know and send you I to. But the are small so I imagine that he will go to one that is more private because they are open to public and it's very cheap. Like $3 dollars. Plus they have become very popular the last 2 years and I have noticed they are trying to turn them into more of a tourist thing. So there would be people in the way. They now have restrooms & snacks. Lol our TTD is super early at a cenote in July. Not sure where. My photo guy has awesome pis so I'm just going with whatever he says.

  2. I really wanted to reply to mariposa6102 concerns. I have been several times to cancun and surrounding areas. We have done most of all the tourist excursions, malls, etc. it is very safe all over from isla mujeres to tulum. We even rent a cheap little car when we go and take off on our own adventures. Since we have done the excursions we like to find more local things. We go to cenotes too. We ride the bus that runs up and down Cancun. Also safe and cheap! You have to realize that there only way of life is tourism. There is no other industry. So not only do they do it well but they are great people! They also have classes for the employees even fairy pilots take to all learn hospitality, and English. So please venture out. It's beautiful. Several recommendations if anyone interested.

  3. Drinks~ I told Patty I wanted blue drinks and she said no problem cause I have these cute straws with starfish on them. I also picked 2 dishes. I just told her what I wanted because I had no ideas what the menu said. I also asked for chicken nuggets for kids. I am concerned about length of reception and heat. July 5. So I am going to look at inside location and hang out outdoors on July 1st day we arrive. I told her I will then decide. She says no problem to it all....ladies does that mean there may be fees for things? Do they tell you yes with out stating cost?? I have chosen an outside photographer. He is family friend and does AWESOME pics. So guess I have to pay $350 fee. Does anyone have pics of there tables, flowers etc??? Please help. July 5 fastly approaching

  4. Waaa. I paid the member fee when I first logged on. Only to discover all these templates are not working on my new MAC computer! If any has a MaC and could help me out in LAMENS terms. Please do. I spend hour trying figure them out and am 4 months away with not one project done. Note, buying a new computer to work on wedding...bad idea! I need classes just figure out computer. Lol

  5. Thanks ladies! Ok well we are having 25 guest si figured 5 tables for guest, us, cake, guest stuff/shell signing. So I think 80$ each is good. Plus i purchased burlap table runners and potpourri with big starfish(died blue) ans shells to put on the tables. I am wanting beach theme. So I think I will use there florist. But....after reading through this I had a HELLO MOMENT. MY FI has cousins that went last year. They know a family that lives in Cancun that they spent alot time with. Anyways, they met a photographer that they hung out with, came home and told us. He has AMaZING ideas. We plan on using him the next day for TTD. He does great pics in denotes and water. So I will now look into using him the day of. Oh his site is juanphotos.com. If y'all want check out.

  6. I have some questions for y'all? My date is fast approaching, July 5! Why are y'all picking outside photographers/videographers? Did I miss something? And as far as flowers I think with the time and cost of finding outside vendor, Once the GCR taxes on outside vendor fee are you really saving money$? I am now wondering if I need to start looking around too. I have been going with all info Paty has sent me cause I wanted things be easier. That's why I chose destination. But after reading here I'm wondering if I should find different photographer. We also are going the next day to better locations to do TTD shots at cenotes so I didn't plan on paying hotel for that. We know a great photographer in cancun. ^makeup SCAM! I was going use hotel salon. Heard they did good. Plus being in July I figure my makeupwon't last long.

  7. Ok I never called anyone ignorant. I was simply pointing out that even though it adds to the to do list. Reading up on the meanings of it may ease your mind on doing the traditional stuff. Because of its symbolic meanings. I also suggested beach for those who wanted to design here own ceremony. I myself never knew about them growing up. Even though catholic. But am marrying into a traditional Mexican family from Mexico. Since the announcement of our wedding the older women in his family have gone into there rooms to there secret hiding places and showed me there coins. They seem just as special to them as our rings do to us. They also flock to the opportunity to buy them for the next runner up. So I just meant to not stress over it.

  8. I just wanted to say and hope it doesn't come out rude...I think if you want to get married in the church in MEXICO you should respect and appreciate the traditions of the church. It is what makes it so beautiful and the long tradition of it is amazing. If you do not understand it then do research read up about it. It all has very special meaning. If the Atmosphere is why you are going there to get married then do the beach ceremony. You can make it more how you want to. I also could never imagine asking the priest to do it my way. I would feel like I am offending not only him but the whole religion. If your not really catholic then I would just suggest beach. Just my thought. It kind of made me sad to here some replys to findings coins etc. those are gifts that should be given to you by someone special. I know we are all spending $ making things. The symbolic things in ceremony are for you (couple)forever. Worth $ more than bubbles or cups, towels. I would do some research. It is so beautiful & personal.

  9. Hello BDW ladies, I have been reading through a few of these threads. I wanted to see if I could be part of this? I am planning our wedding In cancun July 5,2013. My family is not involved in helping me at & my mom didn't show up on the day to get my dress. So the closer it gets I have been thinking how would I do the something barrowed or blue stuff? I am not having a shower or bridesmaids. I have been buying OoT stuff for guest coming mostly his family and see all the brides gifts and I think it's starting bumb me out. Even if know ones doing it let me know what to do I would like to do it for someone else? It really sucks when you don't have help or family or friends involved. Thank god for my FI. He even took me dress shopping!

  10. After reading thru a LOT of these post I noticed Brides referring to the same names at the GCR. However I still haven't found any one mentioning Patty? She is the person who gave us the tour when we where there back in September and emails. She has told me it is all reserved and I paid deposit but have not gotten a contract?? Should I be concerned its July5, 2013! Also I deal with a guy named Ramiro to do the room blocking and room rates?? confused.gif undecided.gif

  11. OK so my box thingy now has all the buttons on it i guess because I have posted couple times. Hello makes things a lot easier now. Yes dress was from Davids its Vera Wang's new 2013 spring collection. After looking around for a TTD I realized I probably picked the most expensive dang dress in the place. But my FI says he feels good about it cause he sees me watch all those shows on TV and was nervous I would want a 5,00+ I also told him I ordered the dress, sash, veil. =2,000 so I'm OK. anyways, the alterations lady said $150 to cut 2 inches off bottom & bustle. I want to be barefoot on beach. but when i went to pay the lady at desk said alterations start at $300. I think i want to look around for cheaper one. I have lost 4 more pounds this past week and am 10 pounds from my goal.So I'm sure the waist will need to be taken in a little. it zips up now.

  12. Wow! So got contract done for room blocked & I was even able to get our flight locked in through United. Because the flights are already getting so high. Now we are just waiting on $ to come in from guest so I can start ordering stuff off etsy. I think although it made some stressful days for me it really put our guest at ease to know exactly what it will cost. Especially with flight going from$600-$799. Thanks so much for replys!

  13. Sorry I took so long to reply. I was busy dress shopping! But yes it is close. Not walking distance but if u get a chance when u leave airport just ask taxi or whom ever to point it out on the way to hotel. Cancun people love to help, that's why I love it there. I live in Houston. Lol Mall will be on right before u get to the GCR. The cheapest way to get there FYI is when u walk out GCR cross street to nearest bus stop that has busses going that direction. It will cost u like .50in pesos! Ride it down a couple of stops u can even tell driver luxury mall. When it stop across street from mall get out and cross street yourself. The bus runs up & down hotel zone. Rather than ride it to end back @ we always get off & RUN across street. Hope this helps.

  14. Yeah! I was so excited when I saw that y'all replied!! Sorry I didn't reply sooner but....I was out getting my dress! I can't belief I have ordered it with only 3 apts. I fell in love with a Vera Wang dress at David's the second store I visited. When I went to the other location to try it on in my size I fell in love love with another. So I made apt for Sunday trying to include my very difficult mother. (another story) she was a no show but my friend cam & aunt, soon be sis-law. I was so nervous they wouldnt like it as much as I did. But they loved it. I wish I knew how t post a pic ? It should be here in May. I hopping to loose 10 more pounds. Now I'm curious about getting it altered some where else cause of the cost. It was $500 more than I wanted to spend. I couldn't believe I fell for 2 dresses thinking one would be hard. But the 2nd looks so romantic & screams romantic beach to me.

  15. Yeah Congrats Lady's cheers.gif  We Will be there for our big day July 5, 2013 I have already begun the hotel reservations myself/contract due to the fact the hotel is overbooked for the week of our wedding. They never sent me any notification and we were all just waiting till after the Holidays to pay. Now I am collecting all the info and room count and $ which I did not want to do! But The Hotel has been super nice and accommodating. I am getting a little concerned tho because I keep asking for the contract and even calling wanting to pay deposit. 2 weeks and still no contract. Ramiro keeps assuring me the rooms are on hold.Hope so we are at 36 guest and i haven't even sent out our passport invites. I decided to get a contract with United also they only booked half and now the price has gone from 500 to 741$ a ticket. I found out today and cried a lot. Any ways, I just wanted to offer my knowledge to y'all about Cancun, Playa, Tulum, the Cenotes etc..We have been there several times. I also wanted to note that I see a lot of BDW taking a lot of stuff (maracas, etc) I know the best "cheapest place to get all your Mexican style souvenirs. in the last place you would think. The Luxury mall that has a giant Louis Vuitton sign out front. I m not sure the name but it is on the first floor. most stuff a dollar. All the small tequila bottle, t-shirts, magnets, etc...We always go on our last day on the way to airport to grab souvenirs for family. they always have a free beach bad deal too! I don't recommend the flea markets for any of this stuff and we have been to all those too. so if any one want restaurant or stuff to do???

  16. yeah Lady's   cheers.gif  how exciting. I am also at the GCR July 5, 2013. Hope I don't pass out from the heat! I am new to this site and terrible with computers but I just wanted to offer any tips on Cancun or Playa, Cozumel, Tulum, etc. We love to travel and have been there several times. I see a lot of brides packing a lot of things for the guest that are so cheap over there. There is a great store for all the Mexican style souvenirs shells, maracas etc. I have been to all the Flea markets over there and i have to tell you if you are white and don't speak Spanish be prepared to spend way too much $. The store is everything they sell in the flea markets t-shirts and stuff. But in a mall called the Luxury mall. Last place you would think. I am not sure the name but first floor. cant miss it. Has to be cheapest store in there. Also a great place to hit up on your last day to pic up any souvenirs for family on the low. Just a tip. I also know great places to eat and etc if anyone interested.
