  1. Past brides who did the plated menu, which entrees did you choose? What do you recommend? What about hor d'oeuvres? Thanks

    We had the:

    Puffed Pastry

filled with salmon & would mushroom white wine sauce

    Spinach Salad

served with duck confit & balsamic vinaigrette

    Cream of Broccoli

    with parmesan cheese

    Beef Tenderloin

filed with vegetable julienne served in a red wine sauce

    Or

    Chicken Breast

filed with spinach & provolone cheese served with a saffron sauce

Everyone that I spoke with enjoyed the meal a lot, and they were more than accomodating for my lactose allergy and the 2 celiacs we had! If there is one thing this resort does well is be accomodating during a wedding

North Beach is more private because it is away from everything besides a few palapas that they ask people to move so they are not all sitting there when your wedding is going on. South beach is by the Barracuda Bar and more public (like the Gazebo). We got married at the North Beach and it was gorgeous!

I know I've probably asked this before but I cannot find the answer when looking back..

Could anyone help me with determining the difference between North Beach & South Beach..

I remember hearing one of them was more 'secluded'

trying to determine where is the best location for our ceremony that is a little more private than the other.

  2. Hey all of my fellow Dreams Riviera Brides,

My husband and I are entered on Facebook to win a free honeymoon to the Now Jade in the Mayan Rivier and we would be so thankful if you are willing to help us win this vacation, so I just need you to click like on this Photo on the Pose Destination travel page and LIKE it. The couple with the most wins by March 31st wins the vacation. You can always share it on your wall too so even more people can like it!

    Thanks,

    Megan & J

We are currently in 2nd place of 4 couples :)
  3. When are you flying down lynseyloo0812?? We are there the 10-19 so we will be able to see your wedding too! We are getting married on the 13th at the North Beach at 4pm! Do you have everything ready or are you down to the last minute crunch like we are doing? Where are you having your reception? Hope all is going well for you! It is getting super exciting!

  4. How is there no way around that fee? They only do 3 weddings a day and you can have your reception at NUMEROUS places! I find that hard to believe, I was bummed that we couldn't have the pool terrace because we only have 27 people. The seaside is nice, the oceana, the el patio, pool terrace, pool deck, the ballrooms and on the beach. I hope you can get it all figured out :(

  5. Hey,

We are getting marrried January 13th at the DRC! The coordinators when you get there are absolutely fantastic and you honestly have nothing to worry about. We did a site visit in May and they walked with us around the property showing us the different sites. The Oceana is a grass/wood covered restaurant with two levels just off the beach. It is beautiful and I don't think you will need much in way of decorations. You do have to use the tables and chairs that are in the restaurant so that may be a downside as they are square tables. I am going to push them together to make rectangular tables. We are having lantern and small bud vases as centrepieces, nothing too crazy. The jacuzzi area isn't that big of an area (we have 26 guests) and that is where we are hosting ours. The other options was Desiree's terrace (covered area) but still nice seating, it is located up by the ballrooms at the front of the resort but it was a bit larger of an area. The jacuzzi is an open area but not a lot of seating so just depends on what you would like for your guests.

Our friend is coming with us as our photographer as well and we are just going to use the resort photographer for our ceremony. Our friends were married at Dreams Tulum and they were able to barter with their photographer and just buy the cd of all the pictures instead of paying for more to be printed. (So that is always an option as well).. The video that comes with the package is 30 mins and its of your vows and all the guests walking up. It is decent quality but nothing high end. Nice memory to have but if it really important to you there are a lot of videographers in that area. Claudia will probably send you in the next week or two the Wedding Planner Form where you have to fill out all your information about time, sites, guests etc. Don't stress too much about it because stuff can be changed when you get down there. When I get home I will try to find some pictures I took of the Oceana and private message them to you! Congrats!

Hey Ladies I need some help! I am getting married at DRC January 25, 2014.

I had a lot of contact with Claudia when I first reserved the date but have not heard from her in two months. I'm getting really worried that I won't get everything done. All the posts are great but I've been unable to find some answers. I'd really appreciate any insight to these questions:

    - My reception is at Oceana, what decorations do I need to have? I'd like to bring as much as I can but I have no idea what the restaurant looks like with no decorations.

    - My cocktail hour is at the Jacuzzi, we have 45 guests and it looks really small, do you think it will be okay?

    - My rehearsal Cocktail Hour is on the beach, any idea what decorations I should plan on for that?

    - My friend is coming as my photographer so we did not purchase an extra package but we did get the Dreams Ultimate package that comes with photo and video. Did anyone use just the video that comes with the package? How did that turn out? Does anyone have contact for a videographer and how expensive is that?

    - I haven't received any planning documents from Claudia except the Budget Planner, is there anyone else you'd suggest to contact?

Any advice would be great! Thank you!

  6. The Oceana should only be a $800 charge and the downside of it is that you have to use the tables and chairs that are in the restaurant which is currently making a seating chart a pain in my bottom! We are getting married there Jan 13,2014 and they have been great so far with all there help. We did a site visit in May when we were in Tulum for a friends wedding.

  7. Yes, we were quoted $800 to rent it and I had asked them if we were paying for the Oceana if they would still have another party at the Pool Deck since we were paying and they were not. Lorena never answered that question and this is my biggest concern as I do not want to have competing DJs and the two locations are right next to one another. I am so excited though because I was able to do a resort view in May when I was down there for a friend's wedding and the resort was gorgeous.

  8. My fiance and I just got back from the Dreams Tulum last week. We were there as bridesmaid and groomsman in our good friends' wedding. It is a gorgeous resort and you will love it. They took such good care of everyone and the wedding was so relaxing and fun!

  9. I am also in the same boat as we will not have 60 guests, and so we are going with the Oceana Grill. It is right by the pool deck, had the covered restaurant area where we will do dinner and the level down is the wooden deck (separate from the pool deck but right beside) and that is where we will have the dance floor and dj. I wasn't happy about not getting the pool deck but I guess next best option right. The beach is a gorgeous set up, the pool terrace looks nice set up too.

me and my fiance are traveling to cancun this may to and i would love to see the resort before the wedding and get a tour.  i have been trying to contact the wedding coordinators for weeks! how did you go about scheduling your visit?!

    Hey Kelly.

Our wedding planner is Lorena and she is hard to get a hold of, we had our travel agent contact them and they told us to just stop by and they will show us around everything we are interested in seeing. We are staying at another Dreams resort when we are in May to and they have a special deal between all of them in the Mayan and the Now (AM Resort) where you can have dinner and see the entertainment so we are just going to pop in one day. Hopefully this helps :)

  11. The time is flying by way too quickly. Less than 9 months until our big day in January but I have bought a dress so that is exciting. How far in advance did you request final confirmation (RSVP) from your guests that are attending?? We leave for our friends' wedding May 6 and it is in Tulum so we are going to go and check out the Dreams Riviera while we are there. I can't wait, hope everyone elses planning is going well :)

  12. Did you love Juan? We are looking at using him for our photography at the Dreams Riviera and I keep hearing mixed remarks about whether they allow outside vendors or not. Some say yes, others no. I think you just have to really stick up for what you want in Mexico. Was he great to work with?

  13. Hey, just found this board,I am originally from Ontario but have lived in Alberta for the last 6 years. I got engaged over the Christmas break and am starting to look at resorts in the Mayan! I am really liking the Dreams Riviera Cancun.
